Disbursements Withheld - Address Mismatch

Hi Everyone,

My disbursements are withheld by Amazon. I reached out to Amazon support and below is what they replied; but I don’t know what is “Merchant Business Address” means and where can I find this in my Amazon account? is it ‘Primary Contact’ information under the ‘Identity Information’ in Account Info.?

I am a Canadian resident living in Canada, selling in Amazon UK with UK Ltd Company and VAT is not registered yet because annual turnover is less than 85K.

Amazon support reply:

Be kindly informed that after checking , I have found out and reply below:
The country of establishment of your business - this is the country in which your legal entity is incorporated.
The country of your Merchant Business Address does not, or has not, reflected your country of establishment."

Thanks @PAC_Prints,

I know at least 20+ other sellers in my circle, and I am sure there are hundreds of others who are not living in the UK and selling in Amazon UK same way like I do and they never registered VAT until 85K and they been doing it for sometime until they reach 85K threshold without any issue.

I’m okay to register VAT at earliest if required but then why no other seller (non UK resident) got the same notification ? Maybe there is something else somewhere in my Amazon account which I don’t know.

The painful part is when we reach amazon support try to get some clear answers and they give vague or generic reply.

As stated above, the £85,000 VAT threshold is ONLY for UK residents.
The others you know of have maybe not been picked up by Amazon yet - there are many thousands of such sellers and the whole process seems to be bot driven so they are maybe just working their way through them all - lots of threads about this.
You maybe need to advise any non-UK residents you know, with stock in UK for FBA they they do it now so as not to have their accounts deactivated/suspended.

Judging by the amount of threads that are popping up on the forums Amazon are going through their accounts picking up those that are not registered correctly.

As mentioned, you need to be registered for VAT if you are storing goods here, it makes you a NETP which you should probably look up.

Just because you have a LTD Company registered here, it doesn’t make it automatically exempt, it has to be a working address, where goods are received and business decisions are made, it can’t be your accountants office or another virtual address.

Just because other people haven’t been caught yet doesn’t make it legal… just means they haven’t been caught yet…

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts.

So does that mean that my disbursement is withheld because I don’t have VAT number in my Amazon account? because Amazon didn’t say anything about VAT, they said " Your country where legal entity is incorporated is different than the country of Merchant Business Address ", so lets suppose I get my VAT and update it in amazon account but then still country of Merchant Business Address will be different than country of legal entity incorporation.
