A-Z awarded because buyer not happy about his customs charge
Received an irate message from a French buyer who bought a cd from me at 30 euros and was charged 19 euros import duty to receive it. He insisted that I should pay this, otherwise he would make an A-Z claim and leave me negative feedback. I sympathised with the outrageous charge, offered a full refund including postage if he returned the item, but I explained that import duty was his responsibility as buyer.
He promptly carried out both of his threats. Amazon has of course auto-awarded the A-Z claim as “not received”, even though the messages between us make it clear that he HAS received it. I appealed and the response, possibly automated as well, simply says that as tracking does not show it as delivered I have to pay. So he got his item free and I have even paid to send it to him. There is no way to reopen after this initial appeal is there? More incentives to fraud from Amazon…

This isnt true, on Amazon it is your responsibility to send without any additional charges

Em, it’s Amazon’s policy that the price they pay is the full price they pay. Amazon is in IOSS and duty will/should have been collected at point of sale. You then needed to send it using postage compatible with IOSS - the e-data then gets sent to the French and French customs can see that tax has been paid on it.
