Amazon's Used product categories

I noticed today for the first time that Amazon has introduced revised categories to describe Used products. I have been listing on Amazon for nearly 12 years and this is the first time this has happened. The previous categories were Like New, Very Good, Good and Acceptable. Does anyone know what the new categories are - so far I have seen Excellent, Good and Fair - but MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY does anyone know where Amazon sets out the definitions of each of the new categories?

All of my listings on Amazon (mainly CDs) that I classed as very good now appear as good.In fact I cannot find any CDs on Amazon that read very good. Some dealers will not have noticed this yet.I contacted Amazon seller support but they have a technical issue and cannot look at my listings.Pathetic.

Haven’t noticed that yet. Why, oh why do they keep changing things ? - the current classifications were fine, and if they have now reduced it to just 3 conditions - there is a big difference between Excellent and Good.

Yes, I’ve just spotted this.

A book I listed earlier as ‘acceptable’ is showing as ‘fair’ on the offers page.

I listed another book a minute ago and the usual options (Like New, Very Good, Good and Acceptable) are still those available when adding the listing but on the offers page they now have ‘great’ even though I selected ‘very good’.
.
I can understand ‘fair’ but ‘great’ in place of ‘very good’ is way too ambiguous…and also sounds very American, which is where I guess these new condition categories originate…

Like New has become ‘excellent’…which is fair enough, I suppose.

Nice of Amazon to inform us of these changes…

I made a decision this week to stop selling used items unless there is a new item available.

I am getting loads of returns where my used item has won the buy box and buyers have no idea that they are buying a used item.

I don’t understand why Amazon gives used items the buy box.

Hi Amtrak1231
I’ve started a separate thread on this under the title “Amazon’s Used product categories”. So far it has not attracted as much comment as I would have expected - perhaps it’s because it’s the weekend - but this is potentially a huge issue for sellers of used products.

Are you sure they are not showing as ‘great’?

some of my second-hand CDs now have ‘moderate wear’ and ‘minor wear’ attached to them as if they were used clothes!
What’s the difference between minor and moderate wear - aren’t they just synonyms anyway?

I’m still seeing Perfect, Good, Fair and Fair. I’m not entirely sure what the difference is between a Fair book and a Fair book but I bow down to Amazon’s superior knowledge.

My books listed as Very Good are now showing as Good. Books listed as Good and Acceptable are showing as Fair and… er… Fair.

To be fair, as a buyer, I would prefer Fair to Fair.
