Hi, first time Amazon seller here so I am wondering if I am being daft (although I have contact support over and over about this same issue and they keep telling me to do the same thing over and over).
I have added a book that I am selling (I have self published it) to my inventory but I am unable to edit the description (currently there is NO DESCRIPTION which is a major problem) or add better images. I can add the new images and better description in Amazon Seller Central but the changes are never shown on the front end (I have waited weeks). I do not know why. Amazon support just keep telling me the same thing over and over which I have done… I am totally fed up with this now, my first experience selling on Amazon is absolute pants
Please help.!

The book looks like it is already in the Amazon Catalog as there are other sellers.
As such, the pictures, description, attributes etc will be pulled from the Catalog entries.
You can request changes (which is basically what you are doing) but there is no guarantee they will be accepted. However, as you are a new seller, it is very unlikely Amazon will accept your changes over someone who has been selling awhile.
Selling on Amazon is totally different from selling on other marketplaces. Amazon keeps 1 Catalog entry per product and all sellers should sell off that one entry.
Have you tried using a flat file to do a partial update? I had issues updating some of the details of my listing using the Edit button on Manage Inventory but I had success with the flat file, worth a try
With NEW books you cannot edit the details and images. You have to go with what Amazon provides and they pull that information from Nielson.
So as the publisher you would have to supply the details of the book to Nielson; Amazon would then update the listing from there.
You won’t be able to change the main catalogue as that belongs to Amazon. However, you can add description and images to your specific listing by going to edit/offer. In there you can add any images you want, and a description in the condition notes. When a customer clicks on your listing they will see everything you have added.
