Difficulty getting approved to sell books

Hi, Can any of you booksellers help me out with this please ? I just bought several boxes of specialist 2nd hand engineering books. Good expensive books at a decent price. But I am having great trouble actually listing them, even though there are loads of other sellers who seem to have managed it. Nearly all of them say I . need approval to sell that brand or publisher so I jump through the hoops, fill in the forms and get approved. That approval seems to take time to get through Amazons systems so I give it 24 hours and try again. Some work and go straight through. But some just throw me back to the start. Worse, some brands I cant get approved for. Despite trying listing as both ‘used’ and ‘collectable’ Amazons forms only return it as ‘refurbished’, which is not approved. I have boxes of books worth potentially £30 to £50 each, but i just cant list them . Any suggestions. For example, ISBN 9783764382902 – Glass Construction Manual

I just applied for ungating for that one, answered all the questions and was approved. Refreshed the page and can now list it. Not sure why it isn’t the same for you.

Nope . Clicked ‘sell yours’ and got 'refurbished condition and ‘this product has other listing limitations’. Not even a chance to apply for permission

I’m afraid that blocking the listing of books with no real explanation is something that booksellers have been complaining about for ages.
on the example you have given I see that Amazon have the buy box on both paperback and hardback. In both cases they are listing as NEW ( even though the book is 15 years old) and in both cases they are out of stock. This scenario causes a problem in a different area ( amazon forcing other sellers to reduce their prices to ridiculously low levels) I wonder if these 2 things are somehow related.
Also many of the sellers that are listing are among the “special ones” to seem to be able to list anything they like at any price they like.

I imaging they are academic/university press titles which do seem to be troublesome.

I believe getting approval to sell particular publishers is dependent on your track record and length of time on here. Being an individual seller may have a bearing too.

On the odd occasion I’ve had to do it, I get immediate approval and am able to list after a couple of hours, never been declined, but then I’ve been here over 20 years just selling books.

I know the prices quoted for this type of book can make your eyes light up, but they can be very hard to shift; become very dated, very quickly or go to a new edition.
