Handmade Monthly Newsletter—February Edition

\ 630x180

The story goes that 2000 odd years ago, St. Valentine was a bishop who married couples in secret despite it being against the law. Once incarcerated, he fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and on his execution day (Feb 14th) he wrote his final love letter to her, signed “Your Valentine”.

Whether you’re a hopeless romantic, or just a fan of the chocolate and movie marathons; Valentine’s Day isn’t just about couples—it’s a day to celebrate love, friendship, and even… pets! Therefore, any gift can have a love-twist to it.

Get creative with your product offerings and drive traffic by keeping your Search Terms fresh with the most current gifting holiday. Between now and February 14, think of what customers will type into the search bar when looking for Valentine’s Day gift ideas!

Likewise, for Mother’s Day leading up to March 27!

Prepare your Handmade business for this special gifting period by following these 5 top tips:

  1. Add Mother’s Day Specific Selection: Create new Mother’s Day items or make sure your gifting products are well stocked so you don’t run out!

Extended Producer Responsibility
New Regulation

Beginning July 1, Amazon is legally required to confirm Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance for anyone selling products in Germany or/and France. Additional information on EPR can be found in Seller Central at: Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) education.

To prepare for this requirement, Amazon will begin collecting and validating EPR registration numbers via the EPR Compliance Portal.

Those sellers that sell products in Germany can begin uploading their registration numbers now. The deadline for registration uploads is July 1, 2022 for Packaging and January 1, 2023 for Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE).

For those selling products in France, Amazon will share details on uploading EPR registration number by February 2022.

This is only relevant for sellers who sell in Germany and/or France. Please open these links with the respective marketplace.

Neve’s Bees

In their own words:

"Neve (my daughter) and I are beekeepers —
it was Neve’s idea to get bees when she was 9 – Grandad Jim bought them for her 10th birthday – so they have always been Neve’s Bees!

The ‘Neve’s Bees’ story started with Neve and I making a few fun ‘lotion and potions’ blending our beeswax with pure natural plant oils and butters. We soon realised that we could make a comprehensive range of skincare products using only truly natural ingredients that felt so much better on the skin than the stuff we’d previously been buying. Our range now comprises Lip Balms (in 9 lush varieties), Hand Salves, Cuticle Cream, Facial Cleansers and Moisturisers, Body Oils and our gift sets. All our products are still made by our family here in our workshop in West Oxfordshire, blending our pure wildcrafted beeswax with natural and organic plant oils and butters.

Not only are our products great for the skin, they’re also good for the environment as our bright and cheerful packaging is made from recyclable tin, glass, aluminium and card. What’s more, we donate 10% of our profits back to wildlife charities to help bring back our wildflower meadows and the bees and other pollinators they support."
