How does Amazon estimate the delivery date?

Hi,

I just sold my first item on Amazon and I’m a little bit confused with the whole pay system that they have in place. I have sent the item the same day it was bought from me (16/04/18), I provided the tracking reference so that their estimate can be more accurate, the item was delivered this morning so only 2 days after dispatch. I marked it as dispatched right after posting it, but the delivery estimate is still showing that my item will be delivered between the 20th Apr. - 2nd May.

So my understanding is that I have to wait 7 days from Amazons last day estimate (Showing up as 2nd of May), even though it was already delivered this morning 18/04/18.

That means the funds will be available to me on the 9/05/18. Then I have to wait for the Projected Transfer Initiation Date which by the looks is every Monday for my account (That will be on the 14/05/18) and then I have to add +/- 3 days for the funds to reach my account. This gives me a date of approximately the 17th of May. That’s a month between selling an item and getting the funds into my bank account.

Is my understanding correct? Is it always a month between selling and receiving funds? Also, is there a way for me to update my item as delivered so that the projected estimate changes from the 2nd of May to today’s date?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Firstly re funds - as soon as the item is shipped the funds will be available in your payment account - if you are on daily disbursement you can take it immediately - if on fortnightly it will be disbursed on your next disbursement date. There is no correlation between last day of delivery estimate and receiving your money.

Are you a pro seller - if so you can the transit time and handling time in your shipping settings.

If you’re not a pro seller, I assume you have to use Amazon’s pre-set transit times, but I’m not sure about this.

They use this highly sophisticated, empirically tested device…

I do not understand it as well it has happened to me as well now it says £0.00 to be disbursed on the 23rd of April yet I shipped my orders within 7 days as well. I do not understand how they pay us.

I’m not sure if your account is any different to mine, but funds transfer every 2 weeks. You can request an earlier transfer but the amount that will transfer is reduced.

Once an item is marked as dispatched you will notice your ‘balance’ in the top right hand corner of your Seller Central homepage increase by the cost of the item minus Amazon’s fees.

Let’s say for example that your transfer day is a Wednesday, and you sell and marked an item as dispatched 1 day before on the Tuesday, then you should receive the money in your account early the following week, less than a week after you’ve sold the item. On the flip side, if you sell and dispatch an item one day after a disbursement then you’ll have to wait around 3 weeks to be paid for this.
