How the hell do I unregister for VAT?

I don’t sell in France or Germany but have registered for both those countries. I don’t plan to use it anymore. How do I unregister for VAT in Germany and France?

Its extremely difficult once you are registered - firstly you have to have been registered for at least 2 years before you can apply to de-register. Secondly once Amazon have you as originally registered they tend to insist on a valid number being on your account. Thirdly, did you register yourself or use an agent of some sort.

Personally I would get my accountant to do it this difficult job.
