How to save IPI during pandemic
Hi there
I’m an FBA seller who is running seriously low on stock - 19 units left and usually sit with at least a couple hundred. I currently only sell one product. I was all set to be restocked within a week until the world’s events sent air shipping prices sky high to an unprofitable level. With no guarantee of prices coming down soon, I have chosen to ship my product via sea freight. This means there’s a chance I might not be back in stock for 2 months.
Can anybody shed some light on what may happen to my Inventory Performance Index? I know Amazon have said they will take IPI into account regarding the closing of shipments of non-essential products, but has anybody heard anything more about this or of them taking into account the worldwide supply chain being massively affected? (Wishful thinking). My IPI is currently 469 with only my ‘In-stock rate’ bringing it down.
I wonder:
-
Will I lose my selling privileges if this gets too low? And will this be for all my products and not just this one?
-
Does anyone have any suggestions of what an FBA seller can do to limit damage to their IPI? I initially thought of holiday mode until I realised it doesn’t apply to FBA sellers.
It’d be interesting to hear thoughts from other sellers and hopefully some reassuring news from some of you.
Best Wishes all

There has been no further announcements about IPI since the one below (scroll down to bottom of page).
Amazon have acknowledged the problem, so sellers shouldn’t be affected by poor IPI scores.

Therefore I doubt very much everyone will lose selling privileges, as many are already beyond damage limitation.
