Is this another case of Amazon abusing their market position?

Sorry, but how is that abusing their market position?
They have just as much right to advertise there own goods as we do.
It’s their website, so they have better access, but I really can’t see that being an abuse.

Yes.
Amazon run a marketplace for third party sellers but are able to rig the rules and operational practices to favor their own participation in that market. Given the power of their position and the scale of their enterprise this will eventually be seen as a business which in most other sectors would have already infringed anti-trust (US) or monopoly regulation (UK)
Eventually there will be regulation of the on line market places and enforced separation of companies running marketplaces for third party sellers and companies selling goods on those marketplaces. But it won’t happen soon.

There are more than a million sellers on amazon, there’s no way they can put a million banners of everyone’s product on their homepage.
You’re welcome to sell on other platforms if you’re unhappy with amazon.

Yes, any company cannot legally abuse their market position. It is against anti trust regulations. Amazon have been hit with a LOT of anti trust violations, along with all teh other large operators. But the fines (upto now) have been tiny.

News broke this morning that charges from the EU with respect Amazons dominant position and anti competition stance are imminent. Will be interesting to watch it unfold and see what is the outcome.
