Read onlyWe’ve collaborated with EIT Climate-KIC, Europe’s leading climate innovation hub, to announce the Amazon Launchpad Sustainability Accelerator: a 12-week programme to help early-stage startups who build more sustainable products and want to scale fast.
Customers are increasingly interested in shopping more sustainably. In our UK and EU stores, sales of Climate Pledge Friendly products more than doubled in January 2022, compared to the same period last year.
Our goal for the Amazon Launchpad Sustainability Accelerator is to support founders in starting and scaling sustainable businesses that make it easier for customers to live and shop more sustainably.
Successful participants will receive a financial boost, with a £10,000 equity-free grant, US$25,000 worth of AWS Activate Credits, as well as £5,000 sponsored Amazon Advertising credits. The businesses that opt to join Amazon Launchpad will also be featured on the storefront, and will receive expert mentorship and free account management.
The programme is best suited to brand owners in the early stages of operation who are registered in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or Switzerland.
Applications are open until March 25, 2022, and successful participants will be announced in the spring. Go to Amazon Launchpad Sustainability Accelerator to find out more.
I sounds like another attempt by Amazon to make themselves look ‘green’, while actually doing very little.
“Hey look at us, aren’t we great? Look what we’re doing for the environment”.
Amazon could have a far bigger impact if they stopped transporting empty space by not using unecessary & over-sized packaging.
It would also help if they stopped encoraging buyers to return so much stuff, and when they do return things they should be encouraged to return them in the same condition as recieved. How many items do Amazon sent to landfill each year simply because some buyer removed part of a product or broke it?
If they paid tax in the UK instead of routing UK sales through Luxembourg, which is known to do deals with companies to offer as little as 1% corporation tax, then perhaps our government would have more money to put into de carbonisation on big issues like transport, power and heating.
Amazon is an absolute champion of greenwashing. It’s not so good at paying its fair share to society.
Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft. Meh.
