I am a moderator for an e-commerce page on the orange forum site (not sure if I can mention other websites here). This is a consistent issue which I've noticed not just on our sub, but on others, even the businesses home-town's own sub.
This has been going on for a while and I've been considering reporting them for a while but I'm unsure how to go about, and if I should bother - Please read below (I've omitted the seller's details)
The scam goes:
1) A buying account on "insert auction site here" under a particular name, buys used tech such as gaming consoles from sellers. The address is a business address under a different name than the account name.
2) They then use every method possible to claim item didn't arrive, or simply return swaps a broken version instead.
3) They resell that item on Amazon under a different name (shockingly they are also approved on Amazon Renewed)
The business name (Ltd) is present across all accounts and there are several posts easily Googleable reporting this behaviour to the point somebody has suggesting they confront this person in real life at their business address. Their full name and details are accessible through a simple search.
This issue has been cropping up multiple times since I first discovered this as this business actually bought from my "insert auction site here" account some time ago. I always research businesses that purchase off me and that's how I discovered the scam in the first place. I immediately cancelled and blocked.
I'm not one to "report" other businesses unless it affects me personally. It almost affected me but there was no guarantee they would have attempted the scam on me, but it being so easily Googleable, makes me think this is a common business practice of theirs. In one way it is affecting me, they often appear as a competing seller on products I sell but SEVERELY undercutting the price to the point I no longer bother even attempting to compete. Obviously, if they are getting a portion of their products for free by doing this scam, they have the ability to do this.
My question is. How do I go about reporting this to Amazon? Is it worth the bother? Should it be taken further? I feel like there's so many victims at this point, it warrants an Action Fraud report too. There's plenty of evidence, it would just need somebody with power to do a test purchase themselves.
I hope I've made sense. Please reply with any further questions.
