Shipping from china to Uk

I am a new seller here i live in london uk , i am trying to bring some goods from china through Alibaba but the shipping cost is too high so I am wondering if somebody can refer me to the cheapest way to ship the goods from china to UK . Thanks

Sorry I can’t help with shipping but just a quick word in your ear.
Are you buying anything that is branded from Alibaba? If you are, save your money and don’t risk losing it all. (Nearly) anything branded you buy from Alivaba is likely to be a fake so at the first inauthentic claim from a customer, you will come unstuck.

If you are 100% sure that the goods do not infringe anyone’s intellectual rights, patent or a trademark (which is very unlikely), you can ask your Chinese supplier to ship your goods into the FBA on your behalf.
Alibaba companies usually have a lot of experience with importing goods into Amazon’s warehouses all around the world. They will take care of the entire process. Just make sure that you send them correct box labels and FNSKU barcodes. Shipping cost by FedEx will be around £200 for a 5kg package.
Or you can have the items shipped to your address, so that you will be able to inspect them. But you will need to handle the customs clearance and pay shipping once more.
I am not from the UK, so I can’t give you tips about shipping carriers. According to my experience, FedEx or DHL are the cheapest and most reliable ones.

If this is your first shipment , I would suggest a small quantity order to test how popular your product is . The shipping may be costly as the less you ship the more expensive your cost per item works out . However I believe it is better to test first rather than buy in large quantities and risk sitting with stock in FBA .
As Rugsy states , do not buy branded items on Alibaba . If you are buying a generic product than maybe Alibaba is okay . Just make sure you you check the quality of the entire order . Sometimes ordering a sample can be misleading as your sample may be great , but once the bulk shipment arrives it may not be of the same quality .
