VTR Rate - Royal Mail 2nd class not tracked?
Hello, we sell small low value items and send most of our products by Royal Mail 2nd class with stamps purchased from the Post Office. Do we now need to provide a tracking number for each of our orders? or can we carry on sending by Royal Mail 2nd class not tracked?
Thanks

No - just select royal mail and 2nd class from the drop down menu when you mark as dispatched

Same here, I ignored the drop down box as I didn’t realise it was linked to metrics initially. I’m guessing it will take 30 days to clear and we should start to see the VTR increase when we select 2nd class post. Seems logical.

Hello ELLU,
I understand your concern regarding your orders being shipped via Royal Mail 2nd class which are untracked.
If you are using an untracked delivery method, you are not required to provide us a tracking ID for domestic and cross-border orders. You can ship confirm orders without tracking ID for untracked delivery methods.
You may refer Amazon integrated delivery service providers list here: https://amzn.to/3mOEa2p
If you aren’t using an integrated delivery service provider or using self-delivery, please mark the delivery service provider name as ‘Other’ and mention the name of your non-integrated delivery service provider and delivery method. Shipments sent through ‘Other’ delivery service providers are not considered while calculating valid tracking rate performance.
If the tracking number is available, include it while confirming the shipment. Our customers will be able to track their orders through the delivery service provider website.

Seems we are never going to get a clear cut answer about this.

I’m sorry if this is a silly question after all this time. I am planning to move from CRL48 to BPL2, using click and drop. (I can’t use Amazon Buy Shipping due to the volume of orders and the lack of an intergated label print).
Will these click and drop placed BPL2 orders (that have no tracking) be Not Applicable for VTR or am I wasting me time as I have not done it through Amazon buy Shipping?

I am in a very similar situation. I send Royal Mail 2nd Class but on more expensive items (say £15 +) add ‘signed for’ which comes with a ‘tracking code’. I enter this if I have paid the extra pound or so. I have tried to work out if this is ok by studying the threads. I’m still not sure, however. VTR c. 62%. Second hand books.
- Should I send everything second class and no ‘signed for’?
- Should I send everything 2nd class ‘signed for’?
- Should I continue to do what I have always done. and mix and match depending on price of book?
I’m very sorry if this has been asked before but I cannot get definitive answer, or one which I fully understand.

@Dexter
I would also ask for clarification of the above query., and raise the issue that these do not seem to be recorded correctly in the system.
As a long-time user of Amazon’s own ‘Buy Shipping’ (with no linked or integrated accounts), just directly, we are finding that when using this for untracked 1st or 2nd class, that these are still showing as invalid, rather than exempt for VTR calculation, giving us a VTR of 0% for items that should not even be included in the calculation.
When purchasing labels via Buy Shipping it automatically confirms shipment, so surely these untracked shipping labels bought from Amazon itself should be correctly recorded as exempt or N/A ?
The exact same shipping method and labels purchased at the PO or via RM online, and shipment manually confirmed are registering correctly as exempt from VTR calculation.
This would lead one to think there is some technical error somewhere in the Amazon system not correctly recognising these labels via ‘Buy Shipping’ when shipment confirmed.
Until this is rectified I will no longer be using ‘Buy Shipping’ because as it is we are penalised by using it.
The main question really is - why are amazon offering shipping services that are unfit for VTR calculation ?

I was sat in my neighbours garden this morning when my post came and my postie scanned my 2nd class large letter qr code when he delivered it so perhaps things are changing

In April, we have over 200 orders whereby tracking shows NON Delivery. Posties are not scanning!
