Personal Electronic Mobility (E-Mobility) Devices

Amazon’s policies require that Personal Electronic Mobility (E-Mobility) Devices sold through the Amazon website meet specified certification standards. In order to sell these products on Amazon, you must apply by submitting the following to

  • Company name
  • Seller/Vendor ID
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • The EU marketplaces where you are listing your ASINs
  • A list of ASINs you are applying to sell.

To speed up the process, please submit one application per family ASIN/variation/model number. For each ASIN or model number you wish to list, provide genuine product images or its packing showing:

  1. CE marking
  2. Name and address of EU bases manufacturer or registered trademark
    • EC Declaration of Conformity. We only accept Declarations issued by EU based manufacturers or the official EU based importer of the products.
    • (For hoverboards only) A certificate or test report from accredited laboratory, confirming that your product was tested according to the standards listed in the following table.

Important: There may be local legal restrictions in the country of sale relating to use of certain Personal E-Mobility Devices by customers on roads, footways, cycle lanes, or in other areas. Please ensure additional care is taken with detail page pictures and product descriptions not to encourage potentially illegal use by customers on roads, footways, cycle lanes, or in other areas.

In addition:

- Products can be described as e-scooters, if they do not have a seat.

- Products can be described as e-bikes,e-bicycle, e-cycle, or pedelecs, if they have pedals.

- E-bikes and pedelecs cannot have more than 250W power or exceed a maximum speed of 25km/h.

Personal E-Mobility Devices include the following product types:


A hoverboard is a self-propelled two-wheel electric device that is powered by an onboard battery pack. It has two wheels and a board between the wheels for the rider to stand and balance on. The rider shifts his/her weight to move the device in the desired direction. These devices have no handlebars.

Monorovers or electric unicycles

A monorover or an electric unicycle (e-unicycle) is a self-propelled electric device powered by an onboard battery pack. It has one or two centrally-located wheels with small platforms on either side, for the rider to stand on during operation. The rider shifts his/her weight to move the device in the desired direction. There are no handlebars or seats on self-propelled two-wheeled devices with a maximum design speed of 6 km/h.

Electric skateboard (e-skateboard)

An electric skateboard has four wheels and an added battery pack with a power system to aid riders with added torque while travelling. An electric skateboard may have a handheld remote control to allow the rider to control the device.

Electric scooter (e-scooter)

An electrical scooter is an e-mobility device for personal transportation. It has no seat and may take a number of different forms, including foldable scooters and kickstand scooters.

E-mopeds and powered e-cycles

Rideable scooters with seat (mopeds) have two or three wheels and a maximum speed of up to 45 km/h. Powered e-cycles have an electric motor and pedals for assistance, with maximum speed of up to 25 km/h. Both are used for personal transportation.

Self-balancing personal transport devices

A self-balancing transport device may have one or two wheels. These devices are powered by a rechargeable battery pack and use the shifting weight of the rider for balance. Common examples of self-balancing transport devices include Segway-branded products and OneWheel-branded ones.

Electric bicycle (e-bike, e-bicycle)

An electric bicycle, also called an e-bike, is a two-wheeled device used for personal transportation. Resembling an analog bicycle, these products have an added battery and a power system to aid the rider with added torque when traversing elevated or rough terrain.

Electric tricycle (e-trike, e-tricycle)

An electric tricycle is equivalent to an electric bicycle, with the exception of an additional wheel.

Electric quadricycle

A quadricycle is a four-wheeled light electric vehicle with a maximum speed of up to 45 km/h and is used for personal transportation.
