The Buy Used Box

The Buy Used Box works a lot like, and is positioned just below, the Buy Box on a product detail page. It gives customers a quick way to initiate the purchase process by adding a "used" media product to their shopping basket.

Only qualified sellers may compete for the Buy Used Box. Qualification is evaluated on the following criteria:

Only Sellers on a Professional Selling Plan who sell books, music, videos, or DVDs and subscribe to the Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) service can compete for the Buy Used Box. You can learn more about signing up for the FBA service on our Fulfilment by Amazon website.

Starting in January 2021 (the exact date will be communicated closer to launch), Selling Partners will be able to feature in the Amazon UK Books New Buy Box. Only condition ‘New’ books will be eligible.

To win the Buy Used Box, sellers must meet Order Defect Rate targets. The Customer Service Performance page can help you track your performance as a seller.

Product placement

The product listings of sellers who qualify to compete for the Buy Used Box are evaluated based on factors that have been carefully chosen in an effort to give customers the best shopping experience.

Product qualifications include:

  • Condition:The item must be in "Like New", "Very Good" or "Good" condition.
  • Media:The item must be classified under the Media category.
  • Fulfilment:The item must be fulfilled using FBA. For books, music, video and DVD products in "New" condition, only those sold and fulfilled by Amazon are eligible to win the Buy Box. Customers should expect the same fulfilment options and level of customer service, regardless of whether the product is new or used. Sellers are able to meet this expectation by using the FBA service.

Increase your chances of winning the Buy Used Box

Only one listing is selected for the Buy Used Box. If you have an eligible listing, you can increase your chances of winning the Buy Used Box using the following guidelines:

  • Pricing: Because we look at the price the customer will pay, price your products competitively. The lowest price, however, doesn't guarantee that you'll win the Buy Used Box.
  • Availability: Use inventory planning best practices, such as setting Replenishment alerts, to keep your popular products in stock.
