Listing Restrictions in the Software Category

To ensure that customers are able to buy with confidence from all sellers on Amazon.co.uk, we have implemented restrictions on certain products that offered for sale in the Software store. With effect from 3rd October 2011, only those sellers who meet the following performance criteria will be eligible to list certain software ASINs from Microsoft, Adobe and Symantec (Norton) on the site:

  • Seller must have processed and dispatched at least 50 orders on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace (sale does not have to be in the Software category), including at least 15 in each of the past three months;
  • Seller must have registered their Selling on Amazon account at least 90 days ago; and
  • Seller must have an Order Defect Rate (ODR) of 0.75% or less.

You can view your Customer Metrics in your seller account. If your performance does not meet the above criteria, we encourage you to take appropriate corrective action.

Here are some steps you can take to improve your selling performance on Amazon.co.uk:

  • Check your orders frequently in the Manage Orders section of your seller account.
  • Minimise order cancellations; don't show more stock for sale than you actually have available.
  • Dispatch orders and confirm dispatch in a timely manner.
  • Make sure your seller policies are up-to-date.
  • Learn more about Improving Your Feedback Rating.

Please note that at all timesAmazon Services Europe reserves the right to cancel listings, suspend accounts, and prohibit the selling of specific products to maintain a service that is safe for customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there restrictions on listing certain software items on Amazon.co.uk?

Customers have high expectations for purchases on Amazon.co.uk. We want to ensure that all our customers in the Software category have a high-quality experience.

How can I obtain approval to list these software ASINs on Amazon.co.uk?

To obtain approval to sell one of these software ASINs, sellers must submit a request directly to Amazon Seller Support. We will confirm whether your account meets the criteria indicated above and, if so, grant permissions to list these ASINs.

What is an order defect?

An order is defined as having a defect if we have received a negative feedback comment, an A-to-z Guarantee claim, or a service credit card chargeback on that order. The “order defect rate” is defined as the number of orders with a defect divided by the number of orders in the time period of interest. It is represented as a percentage. Order defect rate is the key measure of your ability to provide a good customer experience. You can view your order defect rate in your seller account.
