Error message: ‘We could not access the media at URL!{imageUrl}. A 403 HTTP status code was received. Ensure that the server or firewall configuration is not blocking Amazon servers from accessing the media’.

This error occurs when:

  • The request was valid, but the server is refusing action.

Our systems try several times to retrieve the media from the specified URL but in some cases, all attempts fail. To fix this error, try this:

  • Ensure that the media server is following HTTP protocol and returning the correct response code.
  • Ensure that the server is not denying access of certain resources to specific IP addresses or ranges.
  • Ensure that the directory that is being accessed has a default index file and that directory listings are enabled.
  • Ensure that the user that owns the web server worker process has read permissions for the file.
