Information on HMRC VAT Notices

Under UK Value Added Tax (VAT) legislation, the UK tax authority – Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) – can issue notices informing us that they have identified a seller whom they believe is not VAT compliant in the UK, and requiring that we stop the seller from selling on Amazon.co.uk. Sellers on Amazon must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

If we receive a notice from HMRC related to your seller account, you may no longer sell on Amazon.co.uk, and you are no longer allowed to use our Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service in connection with Amazon.co.uk. In addition, you may no longer offer to ship products into the UK on any of Amazon's European websites, and you may also no longer use our FBA service to ship products into the UK.

How to resolve my VAT status

If you can no longer sell on Amazon.co.uk because of an HMRC VAT Notice, contact HMRC at onlineselling.compliance@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk to resolve your VAT status. We may allow you to sell on Amazon.co.uk again once when you have resolved your VAT status with HMRC, and HMRC informs us that their notice has been withdrawn.

Note: Uploading a valid UK VAT number in Seller Central is not sufficient. You must request HMRC to issue a notice withdrawal if you believe you fully meet the VAT requirement.
