What is an Amazon-funded apprenticeship?

The Apprenticeship Levy was introduced in 2017 to address a growing nationwide skills gap. Amazon is offering to transfer some of its levy funding to eligible sellers for all apprenticeships until degree level.

There is no limitation on the apprenticeship standards that are eligible for this funding. To help you decide which standard best fits your business, a full list of current apprenticeship standards can be found in the Institute for Apprenticeships (IFA) website.

Eligibility criteria

The minimum eligibility criteria for an Amazon-funded apprenticeship are:

1. Your registered business address must be in England.
2. Your apprentice must have a direct line manager that is able to sign off their work.
3. You must have a Seller Central account balance greater than £0.
4. You must have achieved greater than £1000 trailing 12 months sales on Amazon stores in Europe.
5. Your Seller Central account must not be suspended or at risk of suspension.
6. You must be able to pay your apprentice a legal wage for the duration of their apprenticeship.
7. Your prospective apprentice must be aged 16 years or older.
8. Businesses must have a PAYE bill lesser than £3,000,000 per annum.

Providers may apply additional eligibility criteria depending on the apprenticeship standard.

Digital Marketing	L3	Avado Learning	Apprenticeships are delivered through Arch Apprenticeships, who are rated Ofsted “Outstanding”. Apprentices will get access to Avado’s award-winning online training while also benefiting from industry-leading apprenticeships from Arch. Frequently asked questions

Can Amazon help with apprentice recruitment?

Recruitment of your apprentice will be your responsibility and is not something Amazon can support directly. However some of our providers can provide support with recruitment of your apprentice. If you are interested, contact us at marketplace-apprenticeships@amazon.com.

Do I need to pay my apprentice?

Yes, you must ensure that your apprentice is paid their lawful wage. The funding supplied by Amazon is to cover the cost of their apprenticeship training only.

Can I re-apply if I don’t meet eligibility requirements the first time?

Yes, you can. If you are not eligible upon your first sign-up, the Amazon Apprenticeship team will be in touch to inform you. You can re-apply when you meet the eligibility requirements.

Am I restricted to specific apprenticeship standards?

No. We recognise that Amazon sellers have a wide range of business types. We will consider applications for any apprenticeship below degree level (up to and including level 4) relevant to your business.
