Small and Light prep and packaging guide

Packaging checklist

  • All ASINs meet programme eligibility requirements and have been successfully added (go to your Small & Light Inventory report).
  • Each individual unit must have an Amazon barcode. Products cannot be bundled and must comply with standard FBA prep and packaging requirements. To be eligible for Amazon to barcode your units, each individual unit must have a single, scannable barcode that uniquely identifies the product, such as an EAN, UPC, ISBN, GCID or JAN.
  • All barcodes must be placed on the outside of the unit in a flat, easily accessible and scannable location. For example, barcodes must not be placed on a corner, curve or seam of the package.
  • Glass and sharp objects are safely packaged to prevent breakage or injury. For more information, refer to Glass, Ceramic, Breakable and Fragile and Packaging sharp units.
  • Crushable items such as crisps and glass must be properly prepped and packaged so that they are not crushed or broken when shipped. Crushed or broken items will not be received at the fulfilment centre. They will be removed or disposed of at your expense.

Shipment checklist

  • A minimum of 24 units per SKU must be sent in each shipment.
  • Shipment contents match the shipping plan.
  • Shipment does not contain dangerous goods (hazmat) or items that are temperature-sensitive, meltable or crushable.

Tips for success

  • Do not send shipments with excess inventory. For more information, refer to Manage Excess Inventory.
  • Only send shipments to the fulfilment centre that are specified on the shipping label.

Unique Programme requirements

  • Each unit weighs less than or equal to 225g, and has dimensions less than or equal to 2.4 x 22 x 30 cm.
  • A minimum of 24 units per ASIN must be sent in each shipment.
  • Each individual unit must have an Amazon barcode. Items that are not properly prepped must be removed or disposed of at your expense. For more information, refer to Remove inventory (overview).
  • FBA Small and Light cannot accept dangerous goods (hazmat), crushable or temperature-sensitive items.
  • Items being shipped through FBA Small and Light cannot be bundled and must comply with standard FBA prep and packaging requirements.
Note: Through the FBA Label Service, we will apply an Amazon barcode to your Small and Light products for free. In addition, you can use the FBA Prep Service to have us package and prep your Small and Light products for fulfilment for a per-unit fee. To be eligible for the FBA Label Service, each individual unit must have a single scannable barcode that uniquely identifies the product.

General FBA Requirements

Shipping boxes that weigh between 15 kg and 23 kg must be marked as heavy parcel and cannot exceed 63.5 cm on the longest side.
