Error 90244 on Unit Count - 5 Cases Opened, Still Not Resolved (Shoes Insoles Category)
Hello @Cooper_Amazon and forum team,
I need help with a recurring Error 90244 that I cannot resolve despite multiple attempts.
**Issue Summary:**
I am trying to create a variation listing for shoe insoles (SizeName-ColorName variation theme). The error report keeps pointing to the **Unit Count** column with Error 90244 (invalid value).
**What I have tried (all failed):**
1. EnsuredUnit Count Typeis selected from the dropdown (Count).2. Filled Unit Count with 1 and also tried 2.
3. Also fillednumber_of_itemswith the same value.4. Confirmed parent rows are blank for these fields.
5. Downloaded the latest template for this category.6. Opened 5 separate cases with Seller Support. Each time, I was told the issue would be fixed, but nothing has changed.`
**My Case IDs for reference:**
- [12565633522]
- [12554113462]
- [12473665612]
**Batch ID from the latest failed upload:**
[77877020581]
[77876020581]
[77875020580]
[77874020580]
**Request:**
I believe this is a known system issue with the Unit Count attribute, as discussed in other forum threads. Since regular Seller Support has been unable to resolve it after 5 cases, please escalate this to the internal technical team.
Thank you for your help.

Hey @Seller_aoON5WfOZcAuo
Thank you for reaching out about the error 90224 you're encountering when trying to list your shoe insoles.
Key Points:
- For the product type SHOE_INSERT (under the node Fashion > Shoe, Jewellery & Watch Accessories > Shoe Care Products & Accessories > Insoles > Comfort), the valid unit_count_type value is "count" — not "pair"
- The unit_count_type is determined by the product type and must match one of the approved values for that category
- Since your brand (Solamni) already has an approved exemption under the parent product type HEALTH_PERSONAL_CARE, you don't need to apply for a separate exemption for SHOE_INSERT
Recommended Steps:
- Download the flat file template for your specific node (Fashion > Insoles > Comfort) via: Seller Central > Catalog > Add Products > Spreadsheets > Download blank template
- In the template, set unit_count_type to "count"
- Fill in the required fields (SKU, "Update" in the Update Delete column, and other mandatory attributes per the "Data Definitions" sheet)
- Upload the completed template via: Seller Central > Catalog > Add Products > Spreadsheets > Upload file
Hope this helps get your insoles listed! Let us know if you have any further questions.
Best Regards,
Thea

If you have carefully reviewed my previous cases, you should know that I have tried these "solutions" you mentioned countless times, but all of them have been in vain.
I have been communicating with the seller's "support" for several hours and have opened many cases repeatedly. In the end, you always say "we have transferred the problem to the internal team", but the final result is still not a solution. You seem to keep blaming the seller for filling in the wrong information, instead of considering that there is an error in your product template preset values. I have been waiting for more than 10 days since I first discovered this problem, and the final result is still the same.

One more thing may be worth testing if you still have access to an older flat file template for this product type.
If this issue started after a recent catalogue/template update, the older flat file may still carry the previous allowed-value mapping for Unit Count Type.
For a similar insole / sole insert product, the browser listing UI appears to use:
Unit Count = 1
Unit Count Type = pair
So if the newer flat file now pushes sellers toward “Count”, but the older template still allows “pair”, that would be useful evidence that the issue is related to the new template rather than your product data.
I would test carefully with one child SKU only:
Parent row:
Unit Count = blank
Unit Count Type = blank
Number of Items = blank
Child row:
Unit Count = 1
Unit Count Type = pair
Number of Items = 1
If the older flat file works, I would include that result in the escalation and ask Amazon to check whether the latest Shoes/Insoles flat file has an allowed-value mismatch for Unit Count Type.
The key point for Support is:
The seller-facing flat file may have changed, but the live listing UI/product-type schema still appears to treat “pair” as valid for insoles.
