Hi there new to amazon here,
I have a product which has a barcode on there but it won't match up any ASIN EAN UPC or GTIN can i use somebody else's?
The product is a generic product from ali express, not someone else's brand. I can see multiple of the same item for sale on Amazon but they all have different EAN and or UPC numbers. Can someone please explain how i can obtain one or both of these numbers so i can list my item. I don't want to copy someones elses number as im unsure if it's even allowed and don't want my account banned before ive even started.

Just a side note i am currently not registered as a brand as im just testing the waters but i am thinking about doing this when i get some sales

You cannot just list on another listing randomly. That listing is likely to have a brand on it, and if you list on it - you are likely to be hit with a counterfeit claim or similar.
If you have a barcode - and that isn't returning a listing you should be creating a new listing for a product not sold on Amazon EVEN if there are similar products on the site that look the same. The brand would need to be set as Generic.
