💷 Understanding Your UK Payment Schedule & Reserves

Today, we're covering everything you need to know about Amazon's payment schedule and reserve policies to help you plan better and optimize your cash flow management.

Understanding Your DD+7 Payment Schedule

Your sales proceeds follow a clear timeline designed to balance speed with transaction security:

How it works:

  • Sales proceeds are released 7 days after delivery confirmation
  • Funds become available on the 8th day following the delivery date
  • Disbursements are processed according to your account's payment schedule

Why this matters: The 7-day holding period allows time for delivery confirmation and reduces the risk of chargebacks, protecting both you and your customers. This structure ensures funds are released once the transaction is complete, giving you predictable access to your earnings.

Managing Your Account Reserves

Amazon maintains two types of reserves to protect all parties in the transaction:

Deferred transactions:

  • Temporarily held until delivery is confirmed
  • Released automatically once the buyer receives their order
  • Standard practice for all marketplace transactions

Account-level reserves:

  • Provide security for potential A-to-z Guarantee claims
  • Cover possible chargebacks or refunds
  • Amount varies based on your account history and performance metrics

Why reserves exist: These safeguards protect customers whilst ensuring you have funds available to address any post-delivery issues. Strong account health and consistent performance typically result in lower reserve requirements over time.

Making the Most of Your Payments Dashboard

Navigate to your Payments dashboard in Seller Central to access:

Statement View:

  • Quick overview of your account balance
  • Summary of upcoming and past disbursements
  • Clear breakdown of available and reserved funds

Transaction View:

  • Detailed analysis of individual transactions
  • Line-by-line breakdown of fees, refunds, and adjustments
  • Export functionality for your accounting records

Essential maintenance: Regularly verify your bank details are current and correct. Outdated banking information is one of the most common causes of payment delays.

Let's Discuss We'd love to hear from the community:

Have you encountered payment challenges you've successfully resolved? Your experience could help others facing similar situations.

Your insights and experiences strengthen our entire seller community. Looking forward to your contributions!

Hey Roberto?

Is there any realistic chance that the DD+7 implementation will be postponed or temporarily suspended?

For many sellers, the one-time 14-day payout gap creates a serious cash flow issue, even for accounts in good standing.

Hi Roberto,

could you please answer our questions?

Many sellers here are very concerned about the new DD+7 payout change. Is there any chance that the implementation could be postponed or delayed?

A lot of sellers are currently facing serious cashflow problems because of this change, and many of us are trying to understand if Amazon is considering any adjustments or transition period.

Thank you for your response.

Could anyone who is currently on it tell us what percentage of your sales they are keeping?

00

Seller_d8YGbIjNqwFxn

They keep all your sales for 7 days post delivery confirmation or if there is no delivery confirmation 7 days from the estimated delivery date

It is every sale without exception.

So if the bulk of orders are FBA thane they are going to be keeping 8-10 days of sales. This is what I expected but I wanted to see if that is what happens in practice. It would not be unusual for Amazon to implement something that does not work quite as communicated.

00
user profile
Seller_d8YGbIjNqwFxn

Yes it what happens in practice.

I am withdrawing from FBA at the moment but when I was doing loads last year and the few I get now are all available to be disbursed around 8 days after the order was shipped. So they do hold the funds for that long unfortunately.

As I use RM48 and letter post for most of my FBM orders I have to wait even longer for that money to be available. Anywhere between 10 and 14 days.

The amount of money being held on by Amazon is no small sum. For example my VAT bill is due this month and the amount Amazon currently hold onto would pay that bill twice.

10
user profile
Seller_IueLYzgVB31T0

It seems so completely unfair.

How on earth can that amount held "just in case" be justified?

20
user profile
Seller_d8YGbIjNqwFxn

In my very worst month I have never issued more than £200 of refunds. This is far less than 1 day of income on Amazon.

To justify holding as much as they do along with also being able to charge my card is not necessary.

For me I have been on DD+7 since 2021 so fairly used to it. There are still times though where cash flow is tight and the extra money in Amazon would be useful.

I haven’t been trading for a while. I want to close my trading account, but I’m unable to do so because there is a £35.25 account level reserve on my account. Seller support is not able to help me, I’m stuck with an open account and no one can help! UNBELIEVABLE, a big mess!

00

Seller_zOYeT4NVTdUGV

Lets get down to brass tac's here. As of day 1 this gets implemented I am holding Amazon responsible to ensure my deliveries are delivered. Reason : Amazon obligates me to ship with 'Amazon Buy Shipping' through an 'Amazon Approved Carrier' that I can ONLY book through 'Amazons Platform' that I pay an 'Amazon' subscription fee to sell on, and now 'Amazon' is going to hold our legitimately earnt sales revenue for DD+7 days without covering lost interest then at some point 'Amazon' has to take ownership of the delivery ! Amazon know FULL WELL that Prime order MUST be delivered NEXT DAY! why do they need +7 then if it is only about ensuring delivery !

If you are paying 'fee' then you are entitled to a service, this might be 'disguised' as a change in terms and conditions but in reality they are charging us the interest we would have gained in ord er to, in their words 'reduces the risk of chargebacks, protecting both you and your customers'

if they are claiming to be 'reducing risks' then implicitly they are providing a financial service! Insurance or otherwise, call it what you will, its a service! With a service comes customer customer expectations and service provider responsibilities!

We are a 'customer' Amazon the 'provider'

Amazon you're full of s***, of course it is a money grab!

Making money on our money...

Otherwise prove to us otherwise, instead of quoting generic policy or the surface level intent.

As stated below by all of these fantastic sellers, all raising factual and valid concerns!

Here at Atlantix, we produce less than a 1.8% return or defect rate over the course of the last 6 months.

Yet where is the money?! We have received less than 10% of our actual revenue made after all costs considered week on week.

I have to sit there weekly, manually reviewing each transaction as well, because your accounting structure muds the accuracy of any clear identification of funds, it is truly predatory and it baffles our entire team how this a legal practice within the UK...

IF we were a consumer, and not an LTD under 'such commercial selling agreements', Amazon would have been shut down a very long time ago by trading standards...

If anything it is a grey area, seeing Ombudsman mentions here - we know that we are in support of such investigation or review of the rolling reserve situation, and we encourage other sellers to voice this if anything is found for the benefit of all.

We have over £2k 'pending' in your reserve nonsense right now as it is, and I am unable to pay suppliers using business funds, let alone expand or order new stock. It's a constant personal bleed with this cashflow mismatch.

Our suppliers are in China, of course with a 2-4 month turnaround, from point of payment to live on FBA.

Surely it is in Amazon's best interest to actually allow sellers to access their working capital as soon as possible, so that sales can increase, in turn actually benefiting Amazon via sales commission ffs?!

Personally the core of my frustration, is that demand isn't our issue right now, it is in fact keeping the goods coming in which it feels and is structured in a way where Amazon is actually working against us here, especially when we are increasing week on week.

I should NOT be having to seek external investors right now to obtain our next rolling stock batches, to obtain that working capital which we did initially have, however the payout delays has certainly created that artificial problem that could have been avoided entirely.

Yes money was tight, yes expenses creeped up however no rolling reserve nonsense, we wouldn't even be in this situation.

Many sellers share a similar frustration I am sure.

Thanks,

Frankie C

So the first line states "Sales proceeds are released 7 days after delivery confirmation" - what about the approx 20% of deliveries Via non tracked RM48 that are not scanned as delivered even though they have been.

When are funds released for these ?

The amount of money being held on by Amazon is no small sum. For example my VAT bill is due this month and the amount Amazon currently hold onto would pay that bill twice.

It seems so completely unfair.

How on earth can that amount held "just in case" be justified?

Has anyone here already been switched to DD+7 starting March 2026?
