Amazon Category Fee Vs Referall Category Fee???
HI
I noticed recently that I am paying a referral fee of 15.3% on one of my product sales instead of the expected (and historical) 8.1%
The listing is in category Health & Personal Care and is priced under £10.00, therefore we have always incurred the reduced fee. I enquired with SS who looked into it and came back to say that the 'Referral Fee Category' is not always the same as the product listing category!!! They went on to say that according to Amazon the 'Referral fee category' is correct so cannot be changed back.
Obviously this has a big impact on profitability of this listing. Was anyone else aware that you might not pay the fee corresponding to the categtory you actually list the product in? To confirm, if I look at the actual listing on Amazon it is displaying in Health & Personal Care.
If this is the case how can we ever assess what the Amazon fee will be for potential new listings if Amazon may just change the 'Rerral Fee category' without notice?
Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like the Seller Support agent made up some nonsense. I've never heard of that, at least.
Most likely your product has lost its browse node, or some other way Amazon identifies the category to know what fee to charge. You'll need to hunt through the product specifics in the back end to see if anything has changed or is different than expected.
Once it's corrected, you can then open a case asking for the fee to be reimbursed.
If you still get nowhere, send an email to the managing director's department.
