That will be an interesting watch and could result into some fairly major changes with the buy box. Not least them actually saying how it works!

I’ve just read this and in it, it says that 80% of all sales on Amazon are via the “Buy Box”. Really? 80%? Until we started doing full FBA, our buy box was around 2%, with FBA it is (today) 69% and yet sales figures are roughly the same. Doesn’t sound right to me so not sure how they came to their conclusions? I never look at what happens with the buy box; I simply observe the percentage on the dashboard.

I thought it was interesting that there is only 85,000 marketplace sellers.

During the prime days they’ve just had - I was £8.99 (s&L). Amazon usually about £11. They reduced the price to £9.69 and took the buy box for the few hours the promo was on haha. So their deal price was about 70p higher than my standard price.

My biggest frustration is when they give themselves the buybox but they have zero stock. I also hate it when no one gets the buy box as we are deemed to be too expensive. You then have to click on see buyers and they are present in a totally random order despite the screen saying they are ordered by price.

I tried to open a case with seller support once, with screenshots showing that the items were not ordered correctly. You won’t be surprised to hear I gave up after a dozen non sensical answers.

They will lose this case, look at the evidence of price fixing this forum has just supplied. It will cost them hundreds of millions and more importantly lose sales on there own products which they push to the buy box at the detriment of sellers like us and cost the consumer more. The only negative I can see is companies like this don’t lose money they may will look at sellers to pay higher fees to recoup lost revenue as its all about the share price.

Surely they would only be harming themselves long term by not giving people the best value?
