Children's toy cerification. Third party tester 'SGS' not replying.

My product recently got flagged as needing certification from an Amazon third party tester as Amazon flagged it as a children's toy.

I followed the process and chose the only UK based tester called SGS. since then I am waiting for SGS to contact me to discus cost but it's been over a week and still heard nothing back.

I have emailed them directly via the email address provided from Amazon seller support and heard nothing back from that.

Also through their website I emailed them via their contact us section. From this I received an automated reply email to say they have received my request and an SGS team member will get back to me.

Now after more than a week I have heard nothing.

I spoke with an Amazon account specialist and they advised me to wait longer or use a different third party tester.

The reason why I chose SGS is because they were the only UK based option and all my stock is in the UK marketplace.

I have seen a few people having this compliance issue in the last few month so I'm hoping someone has gone through this process to offer some direction.

Thanks in advance.

I used QIMA based in Hong Kong. They were quick and efficient and communication was good.

I sent my samples through DPD and was shocked by how expensive it was. £166 for 9 board games.

There is an option to send the products to Europe but they said they would need to provide another quote for testing there and it would be more expensive. I went ahead with Hong Kong having foolishly assumed the sample shipping costs would be around £40.

If you have an option to get samples there cheaply I would recommend them. Although handing the money over hurt.

Hi @Seller_tScOVKETcWgMb,

Thank you for posting on Forums. I understand how concerning it can be when you're waiting on a response and your listing compliance is at stake.

Here are some next steps you can take:

  • Try an alternative TIC provider — You can view the full list of approved third-party testing organizations (with contact details) in your Account Health Dashboard. While SGS is UK-based, you're not required to use a UK provider — any approved TIC on the list can handle your testing.

Here are other UK-based approved TIC service providers you can contact:

  • Intertek - Has UK operations and is a major testing provider
  • TÜV Rheinland - Has UK facilities
  • TÜV SÜD - Also operates in the UK
  • Bureau Veritas - Has UK presence

  • Verify your contact details — Please ensure your primary email address in Seller Central is up to date, as TIC providers will use that to reach you.

  • Cancel and re-initiate if needed — If SGS remains unresponsive, you can cancel the current request and start a new one with a different provider through your Compliance dashboard.

  • As @Seller_i38MVIJDH23AY mentioned, QIMA is another option that some sellers have had positive experiences with.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
