Someone bought all my Stock?
Normally we sell 30-60 units per day. Today someone placed an order for 850 units, but the order status is still pending. Is this a trick by a competitor to get our item “out of stock” during busy sales time, and then they will cancel the order before payment goes through? Or did someone really by 850 units?

Its is 95% likely it was a competitor , and 5% likely it is a genuine purchase.

This is a very common tactic used by other sellers to hold your entire FBA inventory and prevent you making sales.
They will most likely hold the stock until the order gets automatically cancelled. Then they will repeat.

You should add a maximum order quantity to prevent this from happening.

If it was me, I would cancel the transaction, take the hit on the metrics, re-list the items with a minimal stock quantity so it cant happen again.

Happy days if its a genuine order though. Never assume the worst!

You could also try contacting Amazon and asking them to validate it’s not a competitor and to cancel the order.
Amazon have cancelled Pending orders for us in the past.

If I remember correctly with pending orders buyers have 21 days to pay. If I was me I would check to see if a competitor has changed their price now that you have no stock. If so contact Amazon to cancel the order.

Sounds likely, it can sit in pending for days and then they can cancel. Dodgy dealing indeed.

Can you look to see who is also selling on your page and who the competitor is and do the same to them?
