VAT/GST registration number problem - do not have them!
Hi,
I am self employed (sole trader) in the UK. I do not have VAT nor GST registration number! Amazon ask me for these numbers to enroll in the VAT calculation services (please see text from Amazon below). Not sure what to do? Your advice will be much appreciated!

The email is probably not from Amazon. You do not need to enroll in VAT calculation services, it is not compulsory.

From the OP It looks like you are trying to enroll onto Amazon’s VAT calculation service but you are not VAT registered, you cannot enrol onto this service without being VAT registered.

I contacted amazon - they said to ignore it as you do not need to be VAT registered so nothing to worry about. I too am a sole trader and earn no where near the VAT threshold.

I too received an email today saying ‘provide your VAT/GST number, or face being restricted’?
I’m not VAT registered either!

Is it possible to use the Amazon VAT Services without being VAT registered in the UK (where I am established)? I am trying to enroll for the VAT Calculation Service precisely so that I can can use the Amazon VAT Services to register for VAT in Germany where I hold stock.
