Professional to Individual
Hi,
I just got verified as an amazon seller and got charged for the Professional subscription (£30), I immediately changed my accounts setting to Individual and hope to be reimbursed as I do not want to sell as a Professional.
I have sent this same message several times and have had generic responses saying you must provide valid tax information. I have no idea how to sort the tax information out and what it means.
I have not sold any items nor listed any items. I literally just tried to make this account with the intention of selling some second hand goods lying around. I have been trying to get reimbursed for several hours now.
Regards,
M

Are you uk based ?..
And did you sign up for a business account or personal account ?
It looks like they need you to complete verification

You will have to get the account validated before they will re-imburse you.

Just speak with the Amazon support team. I had this exact issue when I opened account, automatically enrolled into pro.
Just as an FYI - if you are trying out Amazon, I would recommend just absorbing the cost of pro for a month. Why? As it gets you the following:
- Buy Box on items
- Price displayed on item searches (Would you click an item where the price isn’t displayed?)
- You can set your own rates for shipping (I think standard UK pricing is around £4 set by Amazon)
Up to you of course

You need to understand the difference between account type - the legal entity, and the Selling Plan
There are two account types:
Business where you need to be registered with HMRC as self-employed, keep accounts and submit an annual tax return, and Amazon needs your UTR to complete verification.
Individual - where you can only sell off your own personal second-hand items, nothing new.
Then there are two selling PLANS:
Professional - where you pay a £30 a month fee. You need to be selling a minimum of 34 items a month for this fee to be financially sensible, though there are other perks to the plan.
Individual (yes, same name !) - where you pay an additional final value fee per sale.
Any type of account can be on either selling plan.
If they are asking for your tax info, then they must assume you are a business seller.
To get a refund of unused fees you have to open a case with Seller Support (Help - top right)
If that is all you want to do, tbh the other well known site would be your best option.

Unfortunately, one other thing you need to know about Amazon is that their responses are seldom immediate or even speedy. Some things take days, weeks or even months
