Sending items on a Pallet to FBA without cartons

Is it possible to send individual items to Amazon on a pallet, or do pallet deliveries NEED to be packed into cartons? i.e, can the pallet be considered 1 box for the shipment?

Our items are not particularly bulky, but they do stack on pallets well individually, and it would save us quite some time not having to pack into cases.

It depends, is the answer to that.
Assuming that your items don’t pack so well into boxes and are sufficiently protected when on a pallet, it should be fine. Common sense dictates here.

As an example, I send in fridges to FBA, which obviously cannot be multiple packed into boxes.
When doing things this way, you simply label with the FNSKU label and do not use box labels.
