Royal Mail have increased the price of Tracked 48 and 24 for my OBA
Good news keep on coming, today I got a letter from RM that they are going to increase the price of my Tracked 48, 24 prices that were negotiated based on 20 parcels a week with a weigh of 1kg each. I have never been able to improve on this even if I send more than 250 parcel a week now. I don't have an account manager and they keep promising to call me but no one ever does. The average weight of a parcel is 324 g, therefore paying nearly £1 than on Click and Drop for a tracked 48 I think it's daylight robbery. I have contacted DPD sales team and now waiting for them to get in touch. If FBA were any good...
Anyone who has had the same problem?

With falling shipping numbers they did the same to us, so we changed to retail (drop off at the PO) and pay upfront for them online via C&D.
Retails cheaper than the rates we were given and there's no fuel duty and other surcharges bunged on top.
But the down side is its a bit more work processing and we have to take them to the PO every week day.

Just a point on DPD, they want firm assurances of number of parcels. When I gave them my average weekly parcels I made a point that it was heavily loaded in Q4. The sales person was happy with that and then I started getting messages that my volume wasn't enough (in February), then they cut me off and stopped collections, telling me I could use them again in Q4 when my volume was higher. After that I started getting emails and calls asking why I'd stopped using them.
This was about 3 years ago so they may have changed a bit.
I can do Evri occasionally but they're so wishy washy on delivery guarantees that I usually end up back with Royal Mail. Back in the day I used franking which worked quite well, you could try looking at that and seeing if you can get collection (no idea if you can). As you say communicating with RM is a pain.

Eventually, someone reviewed the rates for me, but it took four phone calls to get someone to look at them, and as you know they keep you on hold for ages. The new prices I was given a few weeks ago were supposedly based on my volume, yet a Tracked 24 parcel was still coming out at well over £5. I would have walked away if it weren’t for SFP and I’m not prepared to use EVRi. I wish we had a real alternative.

Sadly, I don't think you can, the only time I bought the label via Click & Drop as I had missed one order when the collection arrived, I got an email from Amazon telling me off. That's why I am stuck with them. I don't want to go near EVRi.
After many attempts I have managed to renegotiate the prices. Not great, but better. I am still not happy about not having a local point of contact (I am not asking for a dedicated account manager just a local number to call if there are problems) and having to go through the rather busy national call centre.

Ah OK. I thought that had changed but, as I say, it's been a while since I had anything to do with franking.

having been nearly 10 years in selling on various platforms.. we had been with nearly every single couriers. Currently having a spat with RM and gone to ombusman. by comparison, Evri did much better in Q4 than RM.
We have an account with RM but like one of posters pointed out that using account you get cobbled with all the extras especially in Q4. So we use Parcel2Go, they offer RM track, amongst Evri, DHL, FedEx etc.. so there is a range of them. PLUS the orders are pulled over, no typing!
however if you got big pile each day, it might not be a good mix, however if you do drop them off, please make sure you got a receipt. Current Spat with RM is that they lost one of the packages and had the cheat to refuse the compensaion even with a receipt then gone silence on appeal etc.. so it gone to ombusman now.
Sometimes it is easier not having to deal with courier but with the current MCF/Logisitic, we are doing risk assessment on whether to continue to use them or not. When we do Seller Prime during lock down, they were really good..
All the couriers are the same, we cannot live with them and we cannot live without them; they know so they do not have to do better

That's the main problem, especially RM, they know that for large letters we don't have much choice. And some couriers are not good in the Highlands, Northern Ireland or the small isles. Mind you, RM lost a big parcel to the Isle of Man. Today I sent a 7kg one (very large for me) to the Isle of Man again, fingers crossed.
