Returned item been worn
I have a pair of golf shoes which have clearly been worn and have grass clippings, mud and worn cleats. How do I refuse the refund and ensure Amazon doesn’t refund them

If you have received the return already then the best thing to do is refund 99% of the sale and upload all supporting images etc when you do this.

Take a photo of the packaging with the label clearly visible. Take photos of the damage on the product. Go to refund the order and perform a refund reduction. The refund reduction is bugged, so you won't be able to preform a 100% reduction, you'll need to reduce the refund by 99%.
Bear in mind that the buyer will still be able to open an a-to-z claim.
Make sure you also report the buyer for abuse of the return policy through your account health page.

Hello @Seller_wQEH0DjkHEZpj,
I understand you are reaching out about a return where the golf shoes came back clearly worn with grass clippings, mud, and worn cleats.
The community has provided good guidance. Here's what I'd recommend:
Document everything thoroughly — photograph the packaging with the return label visible, and take detailed photos showing the condition of the shoes (grass, mud, worn cleats). Use the Guided Refund Workflow in Manage Your Returns to assess the returned item and apply a restocking fee. It's important to do this within the first few days of receiving the return back.
As the community mentioned, you can process a refund reduction to account for the item being returned in used condition. Be aware that the buyer may still open an A-to-Z claim, so keeping all photographic evidence organized is key.
You can also report the buyer through the Report Abuse form in your Account Health page if you believe the return policy is being misused.
If after processing the partial refund you feel you've incurred a loss, you may also consider filing a SAFE-T claim with your supporting evidence.
In case you need further support with a specific situation, feel free to reach out to our Seller Support team.
Kind regards,
-Josh
