Our highest ranking ASIN which is a piece of clothing has been incorrectly identified as hazardous and suppressed

Hi All,

In a spot of bother and would really appreciate some advice.

This child ASIN from a family of 38 childs has been suppressed for a few days now. It is not hazardous and we have checked the listing and there is no mention of it being hazardous.

We have contacted seller support to explain this and receive the same reply each time that they will pass it on to the relevant team, we then get the same email each time as per below…

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

We are unable to classify your product XXX because of conflicting product information within the detail page or with other offers for the same listing. It is therefore blocked from sale and inbound shipments. Update or confirm the information on the product detail page to proceed with the review.

To edit or add more information:

  1. Locate the product(s) on the Manage Inventory page (sign-in required):
    https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/inventory
  2. Select “Edit” from the drop-down list found on the far right.
  3. Open the “Description” tab on the edit product page.

Verify that the product description includes the correct title, description and bullet points. Update the product description as necessary. Additionally, if your ASIN is to be sold across multiple marketplaces, make sure that the product description is the same across all marketplaces.

Once the detail page has been updated, upload a safety data sheet (SDS). For battery products or cosmetics, if you do not have an SDS, you may upload an Amazon exemption sheet.

The review process generally takes 4 business days. Until the review process is complete, the product will remain unfulfillable. You will receive a notification by email.

Is anyone familiar with this type of issue that can help us as we fear that as know one is telling us what the issue and we cannot see an issue we are going to go around in circles and eventually loose the ranking for this product for which we have worked very hard for?

Well Amazon have determined that it is classed as hazardous so they want the SDS or you fill in the exemption form and submit it.

You could post the ASIN for further opinions but Amazon probably wont change their ruling without some proof of non-hazardous. You may be surprised what they consider hazardous!

It appears that other sellers have attempted to list the item with different materials.

The listing says it’s cashmere, which is a type of wool not cotton.

One of the images gives a comparison against other products which features the word “allergic” and is likely what triggered a hazmat review.

The listing itself has so many policy violations it’s fun to try and count them all (I count 8 unique violations, there’s probably close to 100 if you count repeated ones).

An SDS will only exist if it contains hazardous materials, you need to download the exemption form from the links they provide, fill it in and upload it.
Once uploaded the time it takes to process can vary massively, anything from a few minutes to a few years (yes… really), we had one take 2 years, we’ve had several take more than 12 months, we’ve also had one take less than 5 minutes, average seems to be around 3-4 weeks.

Remove the Assorted Colours from the Title, that now apparently not allowed, the other issue you may get is once you have changed it it won’t update you have to get SS to do it against all the ASIN’s it covers
