Royal Mail price increase tracked 48

Amazon make us send all our cards via Royal Mail 48 tracked so it does not have a negative effect on our VTR. This was fine (although not ideal due to the cost) but since last week this has gone up to £2.70 per card with an increase of £1.15 over night. I doubt that customers will pay that much for postage on a card which clearly is going to negatively impact our selling ability. It's literally one thing after another. Any other card companies out there with advice on how we can obtain cheaper postage or are we better contacting Amazon direct to discuss with them. Ideally just a second or first class stamp should suffice but it's all this tracking malarky which hinders everything.

We have tried to obtain postage from Amazon but this is proving very difficult so we use our account with Royal Mail on integrated Click and Drop. Any advice would be appreciated.

Why can't you use Royal Mail 48? You could buy Royal Mail 2nd Class postage via Amazon Buy Shipping and not have to worry at all.

I use Royal Mail 48 to send some of mine and Tracked 48 to send others.

Both are fine for VTR. Non scanned RM 48 causes your VTR to go low but Amazon validate your RM48 tracking before suspending you.

Assuming you have a Royal Mail account and send sufficient volume I would ask them to look at your tracked 48 pricing. I suspect you can get cheaper than £2.70 especially if you are using Tracked 48 LBT.

Another card seller here, we send our cards mostly through RM24 and have perfect VTR as we have intergtrated our RM account with Amazon. Tracking is not essential to get Good vtr. Why do you have to send tracked 48? You can purchase 1st class post through amazon.

We choose not to use 1st class on Amazon as the postage is taken out of your amazon payments, this means they do not count towards the agreed postage rates we have with royal mail and so would could potentially loose out of perks such as free collections if we didn't include them.

Hi,

I am looking at your post and can suggest that you just change the postage type, wither in settings or when you do the buy bulk postage and select the RM 1st class, 2nd class or another service that suits you more.

We use the standard 2nd class large letter service and, even though not tracked, it does not affect our VTR because as long as you buy postage through amazon (and not at the post office) Amazon will ignore these orders for the VTR calculation. They are exempt from VTR.

Try it one day, we do it all the time and never have any problems, except once in a while when items get lost in the post!

Good luck

May seem a little off topic, but has anyone noticed alot of their Royal Mail Second and First Class items go missing. I've had about 200 go missing while having sent 2000 orders, and it just seems a huge hassle to lodge a claim against Royal Mail. I was quite shocked at how many orders would be lost by Royal Mail. If anyone has a solution to this, or a quick/ easy way of getting compensation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards.

I send all my cards 2nd class using buy shipping - if you dont have business pricing with RM then its simple enough to use

What size and weight? You can send 2nd class up to 28cm x 19cm x 2.5cm for a lightweight item at £1.90, I do this for my paperback books buying through Amazon as it works fine.

The best course of action is to contact Royal Mail and ask them to link your Amazon account to your Royal Mail account and then switch to buy shipping.

You should quite easily be able to do this as you don't need negotiated prices for CRL but they are still accepted to protect your stats.

Once you use buy shipping you will probably find it easier than using the click and drop. Unlike Royal Mail, you do get a price preview and have other options should you wish to take this up. Personally I find it easier to control my Amazon business spend on postage.

You also get a comparison with an end price including and excluding VAT so can work out which service to use depending on your VAT status.

These things are sent to test us, but sometimes overcoming the problem may in the end be a benefit to you.

I do not pay any extra then the basic standard RM48. Tracked signed for is too expensive unless it something over say £20.00?
