Brand Name error: 5461: You may not create new ASINs for this brand

Recently, I have encountered an issue after adding 38 products to my Amazon seller account, and I am uncertain about the cause of this error or any recent changes that may have triggered it.

Hey @Seller_BCvUNL2OXGBCh, do you have a registered brand name?

That error code appear when your brand name is not registered, and therefore, need to list the item as "generic".

Keep us posted!

Hi @Glasstuff,

Thanks for the post. To add on to @priscilla_amazon's guidance if you receive this error 5461, it is because you are attempting to create a new ASIN for a brand for which you are not pre-approved to create new ASINs.

Creation of new ASINs may be restricted to brand owners and their affiliates, retail and pre-approved sellers. This does not impact your ability to list an offer on existing ASINs.

If you believe the product you want to sell is not currently in the Amazon catalog and should be added as a new ASIN. Click here and complete the form.

Including a quick read on Error 5461 and this Seller University video that talks about steps to list generic products and how to resolve some common errors. Pointing you to a similar thread, Can't Create New Listings with Brand as "Generic".

If these resources do not solve the issue, kindly share the case id that you opened with Seller Support. I'm more than happy to review your case.

Best regards,

Rose_Amazon
