Amazon New Pre Paid Return Label Policy
Amazon are now going to give all customers FREE return labels and charge sellers for these. Has everyone heard that Amazon, from the 5th July, are now issuing all customers free prepaid return labels to customers if requested. And then they are charging sellers for these.
I’m not sure about other sellers, but this would basically make out account with Amazon completely unprofitable.
Our return rate currently runs at around 10%. We don’t currently offer free return labels. I know that many companies that do offer free return labels run at a rate of nearer 40%.
If our return rate increases and we are also are charged by amazon for these return labels being used, it will essentially wipe out any profit that we make on Amazon.
I managed, after 4 45 minutes phone calls, to find out that Amazon are charging sellers around £3.00 for every label that a customer uses to send back an item to them.
How is everyone else dealing with this change in policy by Amazon?

Could’ve saved yourself a lot of time not making those calls:

thats really high for a category that doesn’t offer free returns
I could understand it from a category such as clothing - what do you sell ?

Not quite right.
The label is a prepaid label (not free), you can deduct the cost from the refund under certain circumstances.
And it’s not “IF” requested, it’s for ALL return requests, unless you have added your skus to an exemption list.
