All products should have an EAN code.
This is a requirement for creating a listing. Although there are some exceptions such as handmade.
I think however you are getting confused as to how to deal with them when sending a shipment to Amazon.
In this case, you can use either a barcode (Comingled), or the SKU (ASIN) for the product.
The difference being, that if you use just an EAN, then your inventory is mixed with other sellers.
This does save you the time and effort of labelling everything, but it does mean that when someone buys the item, it is picked from a mix of other sellers items as well as yours.
Using the Amazon label (SKU), means that your goods are kept entirely separate from other sellers.
Obviously you need to label them then.

Hi Neil,
Thank you so much for your help here. However I am still a little unsure as whats best for me to do.
I have an EAN number I have bought in from GS1 I believe they are called but Amazon have also given me a bar code which I believe is called the SKU as you have mentioned.
I am shipping direct from China to an Amazon fulfilment centre and can add both bar codes (EAN and SKU) to the outside of the product packaging if required.
Of course I could add just one or the other if that helps Amazon / me more though as the supplier does not mind what they put on the packaging.
This item is new and never been sold on Amazon before if that helps with the answer…
I don’t want to get it wrong as this is my first time dealing with Amazon and I have 3,000 units inbound.
Kind regards,
Phil
