Error 5461 when I have my own brand
Hey guys,
I am a new seller trying to list my first product but I am getting this 5461 error. I recently registered my own brand and this is the first product I am trying to list. Error says there is a duplicate product already available, however that couldn’t be the case and its my own brand.
I bought the UPCs from GS1 website. Any solution to this please?

How far do you get with the listing process before it says there’s a duplicate product? Does it happen immediately when you enter the EAN?

It maybe that your licensed GS1 codes have previously been used by another seller. Have you tried searching your EAN on all sites. Even if there are no live products, that doesnt mean there is no match to a listing that has been discontinued.
Also, try using another EAN from your GS1 numberbank - maybe start from the back or from the middle somewhere and see what happens

I have had the 5461 error before where Amazon believe it is a restricted product or brand and usually after a bit of to and from they have added me to the approved sellers list and I have been able to list without issue, usually requires product images, invoices and screenshots which include the date and time of the error, which makes me think that 5461 is more of a general error than a specific one and is more category related than product.

do u have variations to create ?
Even if not suggest u add variations and by doing that you will be able to put ur brand name and there wont be any such 5461 error.
Once that variations are done - treat that entry as dummy. Add product by ASIN which you have state condition NEW …Job Done !
I encountered this error and frustated almost 3 days also tried searching on Fiverr for consultant and charge was like 500 USD . Dont get involved in any such things and try the way I explained. If you need any further help …let me know.

Hi, my understanding is that Amazon Brand registry and Amazon Seller Central are to be treated as two separate portals.
You have been approved on Brand Registry side but you need to get your Seller Central user approved to sell that brand. Until authorization is not completed you have no right to create new listing under that Brand.
You need to contact Brand Registry and request your seller central account user be granted permission to be able to create new listing for your brand.
Once your user (email address) has been granted Administrator role on your Brand only then you will be able to create new listing under that Brand name.
It has nothing to do with GS1 being invalid, however I would advise you to visit your GS1 account and update your GTIN-13 numbers by filling in product details like Product name, Main brand, Sub-brand, Description, Web link, MPN and SKU.
Now and then Amazon will run random checks and your GTIN-13 Barcodes should confirm GS1 Database otherwise further down the line your GS1 barcodes could fail verification.
Good luck.
