Royal Mail: Are they being particualrly useless at the moment?

I’m curious to hear other people’s experience of RM at the moment.

So many delayed and lost items (Large Letter)

Everyday I’m getting at least one, up to five or so claims. Currently my sales are down anyway, which I attribute to the weather and football, but claims are up.

Large letters sent 2nd Class/Tracked 48 are going to be affected by RM's policy of delivering 2nd class every other day..

Sent 2 LL Tracked 48 last week a day apart to an address that most booksellers will be familiar with in Perth.

Both arrived at the Regional Mail Centre on time; the first was held for a day then delivered with second one the next day.

Tracked 48 shouldn't be impacted by the move to delivering 2nd Class large latter every other day. According to both Ofcom and Royal Mail this service should still be delivered 6 days a week.

In reality though Tracked 48 is often taking more than the 2-3 day delivery aim

Absolutely terrible, 2nd Class Letters and Large Letters are both taking longer to arrive. The delays can be anywhere up to 2 weeks on some items.

Tracked 48 is better but often misses the 2-3 day delivery aim but not taking as long as 2nd Class

Tracked 24 seems okay and still mostly arriving the next day.

I am getting around 20 request for refunds a day on Amazon at the moment. Mostly asking customers to wait a little longer doesn't result in a refund or A-.Z

Not having any issues at all. We use Tracked 48 LL. Haven't had anyone get in touch about delayed or lost items for months, and then it was a couple of people who were lying.

Just had a customer message me from Northampton saying thanks as order arrived.

It was posted two days ago from Weymouth, Royal Mail 2nd class

We shipped Tracked 48 around 12 months ago. We now only ship tracked 24 and magically that fixed 95% of our issues with royal mail

We exclusively use Tracked 24, otdr is 97%. We obviously get a few scams from customers saying it didn't arrive but the delivery photo matches their front door and amazon nicely refunds these kind hearted individuals at our expense. We do get quite a few lost parcels, and we usually bulk claim them at the end of the month to save time.

I understand tracked 24 is almost impossible for most sellers due to the margins, but if your margins allow for it don't just look at the face value of the shipping rate, take into account how much you spend on a-z claims and refunds and make a calculated decision on security. We could have crazy margins if we switched to other services, but we have internally accepted, less refunds and claims does equal a higher net margin in the long run. I hope this helps, I sincerly hope everyone trying on this platform gets the fruits of their labour.
