We have been using both Fruugo and Onbuy… Been with onbuy for about a year now, sales started slow but are now picking up, it is definitely getting busier plus i think they are going to do more TV coverage.

Also they are partnering with PayPal which we can’t wait for!

Overall I think this year will be the year they get big!

also 12 months with no subscription it is kind of a no-brainer!

Fruugo also picking up which is great… I would say it is best to be with them than against and what can hurt, more marketplaces means more sales!

Anyone on other marketplaces??

Starting to pick up. No. Waiting for you money or getting a stupid email saying congratulations we,have sent your payment. For gods sake it’s our bloody money

I took a look at it. Decided that it doesn’t seem like the kind of site that would attract buyers of secondhand books. So, not for me - unless there is evidence to contradict my impression.

I think someone is very narrow minded, Amazon was not created overnight… on this forum there is plenty of back chatting Amazon, if you don’t like it then leave, explore new markets… it cant do you ANY harm apart from some of your time to list your products.

Plus the way I look at it, if there are less sellers then our items are being seen as we are the only sellers on some item. Anyhow, I don’t mind because it is certainly giving me extra spending money

Proof is in the pudding!

(They’ve already done 1 round of asking sellers to pay £10 a month for a shop to keep the site going because they could not afford the server fees. - this in buuy not onbuy) - Edited to correct information.

Doesn’t really bode well for the long term to be honest.

THere’s a lot of sites now launching or have launched over the last 2 years to try and pick off both Amazon and Ebay. Few have succeeded.

With most high street brands now having major web presence with brand recognition it’s very late into the game for a small site unless they have something major and different to offer.

For second hand items it’s now all about mobile apps where you can take a photo and put up an ad with your phone.

For new items you have to go where the ‘footfall’ is to get sales. Listing items is not free - it takes time to put up details.

we have tried on onbuy with very few sales more sales on amazon in one day then onbuy in quiet a few month now. Amazon and are years ahead first they sell half the lines them self plus they have prime plus FBA and many other good things for both the buyers and sellers so do not see how people will move over to them with more then half the country now on amazon prime

Also the fees are not nearly the same as amazon onbuy take 9% plus soon they will be with paypal which will be another few % and amazon take take just 15% so not much in it so unless a huge company come like tesco or some chinese company with lots of money to spend there is not much chance that i see that would really hurt amazon in any real way

Certainly lots to think about but I agree with you @PeterPan454545. If you get to the point that Amazon want to buy you out then you must be doing something right, I am sure that will then make them think.
