Buying a laptop from Amazon.uk: What happens if
(Sorry, mostly a question as a buyer).
Not sure how to go about buying a new computer, with no other high street retailer left that I know of, than Currys PCWorld, who apparently treat you horribly when a fault occurs.
Thinking of checking out Amazon uk. Has anyone recent-years experience of buying a laptop on Amazon, then needing repairs?
What happens then?
Does Amazon take it back and try to have it repaired (by the manufacturer?)?
Does it take weeks to get it back, repaired?
If can’t be repaired you get a full refund, but have to let it go, including the hard drive with all your sensitive/perso data?..

To be honest, it really sounds like your worrying too much about it.
As long as your buying a new laptop, there really is very little that can go wrong with them these days.
That said, if there is an issue, then when buying on Amazon, 99% of the time, your going end up with a return/refund.
If you want the option of repairing it, then why not go to one of the local retailers. It certainly doesn’t have to be the likes of Curry’s etc. If you choose a local shop, you are far more likely to get little niggles etc sorted out a lot quicker.
And the other alternative, is to buy direct. Go to Dell etc, they all have websites that you can buy from.
To add for the above, any reputable retailer will be able to copy your data for you.
But by far the best option is keep a backup of it anyway.
