Linking UPS account
I just received an email from Amazon asking me to re-authenticate my UPS linked account. Here are my questions.....
1) I am FBM and I've never linked either of my shipping accounts (UPS or FedEx ), so why am i being asked to Re-Authenticate?
2) Both my UPS and FedEx accounts gives me better pricing than the amazon shipping discounts that show up when I receive an order. If I link my shipping accounts to my seller account, will I still get my better discounted rates that I have with Fedex and UPS ?
3) If I link my accounts, will i also have the OTDR protection and whatever other protections are offered with the "buy shipping" button i see on each new order?
4) Are there any pitfalls to linking my shipping accounts? Erroneous charges or fees, difficulties or known problems in other ways ect.... ??
Thanks

I am in the same boat as GPI, hoping somebody could shed some light on this.

I received the same e-mail. It looks legit, routed through amazonses.com, but I think it might be a phishing scheme.

Thanks for checking in about the announcement regarding the requirement to re-authenticate your UPS-linked accounts on Amazon Buy Shipping by January 31, 2025 due to a new UPS security protocol.
Our partner team provided me with additional information to share:
1) I am FBM and I've never linked either of my shipping accounts (UPS or FedEx ), so why am i being asked to Re-Authenticate?
If you do not have your UPS account linked in Buy Shipping, no action is required. As stated in the announcement: "If you use UPS shipping services with our negotiated rates through Buy Shipping, you’re not required to take any action."
2) Both my UPS and FedEx accounts gives me better pricing than the amazon shipping discounts that show up when I receive an order. If I link my shipping accounts to my seller account, will I still get my better discounted rates that I have with Fedex and UPS ?
If you link your FedEx and/or UPS accounts to Buy Shipping, you will get your own carrier negotiated rates through Buy Shipping. The Manage your carrier accounts help page has more details.
3) If I link my accounts, will i also have the OTDR protection and whatever other protections are offered with the "buy shipping" button i see on each new order?
Sellers who link their FedEx and/or UPS accounts to Buy Shipping and use Buy Shipping receive Amazon Buy Shipping protections.
4) Are there any pitfalls to linking my shipping accounts? Erroneous charges or fees, difficulties or known problems in other ways ect.... ??
There are no extra charges: if you link your FedEx and/or UPS accounts to Buy Shipping, you will get your own carrier negotiated rates through Buy Shipping.
Please let me know if you have more questions.

So we do not have to do anything. It was another reading comprehension test by Amazon

Nothing is required to be done if you do not use amazons buy shipping.

If you link your accounts. You will get your negotiated rates and be billed directly for those shipments through your carrier accounts. The benifit is you get all the protections of buying shipping in the amazon buy shipping section. You will be covered for OTDR as long as the service qualifies and INR. It is a win win situation for you. We have been doing this for over a decade and never had a coverage issue.
