IF i am selling any brand do i need UPC or use same UPC which already ?

Hi All,

As a new seller, I have a couple of questions:

1:- If a brand or any product is already listed on Amazon, do I need to obtain my own UPC, or can I use the one that's already associated with the listing?

2:- My understanding is that I need a UPC if the product is not listed on Amazon and if it is my own brand. Is this correct?

Please advise.

Good Evening @Seller_EldX9YBXspTbT,

Thank you for writing to us on the seller forums.

To answer your first question, if you would like to list a product already on Amazon, you do not need to obtain a UPC for that item. If you use the, "Find your products in Amazon's catalog" feature, you can see that the UPC associated to that product is generated once the product pops up.

To answer your second question, you do need a UPC if you are listing a product not already listed on Amazon. You can learn more about these steps on the following help pages:

Note: The use of false product identification information, including product IDs, is prohibited and can result in your ASIN creation privileges being removed. Product IDs will be confirmed against the GS1 database. For more information, see Product Detail Page Rules and the ASIN Creation Policy.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the information provided above on this discussion or you may reach out to Selling Partner Support for additional clarification at any time.

Have a lovely rest of the week. 😊

Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon
