Unable to change brand name in product listing

Hello!

I finally managed to create a new listing following the instruction from the Amazon “account manager” assigned to me. However, there is a big problem with them and I have not been able resolve it or get any further help with it: they made me add a wrong brand name.

I did contact them the first time because I was not able to create a listing for our product. The brand name (same as company name) has never been registered as trademark (we are not interested to do so at this moment), and upon creating the new listing I would receive an error message asking me to register to Brand Registry, which was impossible as the form does require the trademark number.

Please note that we are the only one selling it, we own the IP.

Amazon support advised me that in this case for the time being I should put “Generic” in de brand name field upon filling out the form for the new listing.
I did it and now the listing is up and running, however I have not been able to update the correct brand name and I am no longer receiving any answer to my follow ups.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
How do you add the brand name without being trademarked?

Thank you very much in advance!

So your plan was just to push the listing on Amazon in a first place anyway and then to sneak your brand on it?
As you decided to list is as generic, that’s what it is. Now, as you wish to assign a brand to it, it would be considered as different product and so you should create new listing for it. Otherwise, I can imagine, anybody would create any brand they like. Brand is not just something you print on label. Every serious business should get it registered as trademark. Then it is no problems to add it to Amazon.
