'Somebody' who hasn't bought my product left me a 1-star review
So I released a new product, it was going amazing, it had 10x genuine 5-star reviews and the expected finally happened.
Somebody who didnt buy the item, who wouldnt respond to my kind emails, and has never left a review before decided to leave me a 1-star comment.
I emailed Amazon about this and I got the standard ‘all customers are entitled to their opinions’. The only issue is that this is clearly not a customer. Does anyone out there with more wits than I (everyone) have any advice on what can be done? Or is this just another one of those things we all have to get used to?

Anyone can leave product review to any items without buying it,its called unverified review…so its not verified purchase review as it would be and appear if he would buy your product,unverified review doesnt affect your ranking and reviews that much as the verified reviews should be so you cannot do anything just get used to it and move forward,to many idiots around…

I went through this a while ago and at time (2 years back) Amazon said there was nothing that could be done.
I replied to the review asking how the review could be trusted if the person who left the review had not purchased from me. It made me feel better at the time!!!
Bottom line is, I think, you just have to suck it up!
Lord only knows how/why a review can be left by a person who did not buy the item…seems to weaken the whole review process??

I’ve recently had one for a T-Shirt that someone didn’t agree with the slogan so left a 1 star product review even though they hadn’t purchased.
The product has only had 3 reviews (this one star and 2 five stars) but it’s now left the product showing 3 and a half star rating.
That shouldn’t be allowed as it’s not a review of the quality of the product or anyone’s buying experience.

For me this is by far the worst thing about Amazon. Trying to get a product review removed is near impossible and the damage done can be significant… What’s worse is how Amazon remove genuine verified purchased reviews i.e. 5* for no reason at all - it seems the bots come in and do their magic. You might get lucky with the bots removing the unverified review as these in some cases don’t seem to stick for too long. If I was you I would leave a diplomatic reply on the 1-star review and move on…

We had a similar experience. It was about 2 years ago and I can’t remember if it said verified or non-verified, but it was a 1 star review for a hat with the only comment being “I didn’t buy this item” (Why are you leaving a review for it then?!) I assumed at the time it was someone who’d received an automatic invite to review a purchase and either didn’t remember it or someone else had bought it on their Amazon account.
Anyway, try as I might, I couldn’t have it removed either, even though it’s clearly not a review of the product. I think it was the first/only review on that item too to make matters worse.
It’s a bit of a silly policy not to remove reviews when they’re clearly NOT reviews of the product in question.

I wouldn’t worry as clearly you have a good product with over 4 star review rating.
When I am comparing products as a buyer as long as the average review is over 4 then that gives me a fair but of confidence. I’m pretty sure thats how many would also assess.

If it’s any consolation we tried to have one removed today - we know it’s from another MSP and it’s 1 star. Our understanding is that MPSs have to be very careful about leaving reviews, we cited this was from a seller, but they still refused to remove it as ‘not within guidelinesfor removal’, not sure if it’s worth trying again TBH.
Amazon has created such a depressing site experience, I think it’s called joyless shopping, functional and dull.

We have a brilliant one on one of our products, the only review on the product. It’s a mug for the TV show House.MD that has ‘it’s never lupus’ reviewer has lupus and doesn’t like the mug… Facepalm
