Can 2 shops share the same IP
I hope someone can help me so thank you in advance if you can.
I run my shop from my home address and sometimes my mum does some work on my listings from her address abroad.
Now she wants to open her own shop. I am concerned in case Amazon thinks I have opened two shops because she will have signed into my account previously in her ip address.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Cheers

No one knows for sure how Amazon link accounts. It is usually a combination of factors but exactly what is proprietary to them.
If there is any doubt I suggest you request permission. If they do consider the accounts ‘related’ then you will not both be able to sell the same items.

Definitely ask for permission before going ahead.
If then later the bots block both accounts you will at least have some hard evidence that you have acted on the advice provided by Amazon. You should therefore find it easier to unblock.
bots are only as good as the progammers and AMZ coders prefer to test theirs in the field with you and I as the test rodents !

Multiple seller accounts can share the same computer and IP address, however there needs to be a prior approval before opening them, just like others already stated.

Thanks everyone, I don’t suppose anyone knows an email address or phone number to contact someone and get approval?
Thanks so much for all your input, much appreciated.

Obviously that is the first thing that she should stop doing for now. As she goes through the verification process she may want to mention this and obtain permission to continue doing so if that is what you want [maybe as a secondary user on your account rather than logging on as Primary user?]
But it is your Mum who needs to get the approval, not you or they will definitely think you are opening a second account.
This one may help

But you said your Mum is abroad? Is it a UK seller account she wants to open or one of the other marketplaces?

she will have to apply for her own tax number so I’m sure this should separate the 2 accounts also if if she’s in another county will be 2 totally separate accounts, different address etc

In this day and age of dwindling IP addresses, it is highly unlikely that Amazon use them as a basis of barring people.
Unless you’ve specifically requested a ‘static’ IP address from your Internet provider, then you’ll likely find that the address you are assigned changes periodically. Most homes are setup in a way that means the ‘Router’ or box you receive from your service provider is given an actual ‘Public’ IP address, but everything connected to it on the private side of the connection uses IP addresses that are specifically allocated for use in private networks.
If you want to check out the detail behind it just google ‘DHCP’ and ‘Dynamic IP Addresses’
One way to ensure the IP address assigned to your router changes, is to do a factory reset and to let it reinitialise itself on your providers network. As part of this process it will request a new address. This is certainly the case for BT products.

Yes, Amazon are likely to raise the flag of suspicion if two accounts are accessed from the same IP, some would say even sharing the same browser can be problematic.
It can be managed fairly easily through VPN’s, Static IP’s or different means of internet access for different accounts.
You can run countless accounts without Amazon ever linking them from the same PC by using VMware and VPN’s.
Would I share the same IP for both accounts…not a chance.

It depends if you are the primary account holder for both or “just” an invited secondary user which is not the account owner. Primary would be a problem, secondary should be fine.
