Spain - Correos Charging Import Admin Fees Despite IOSS
Has anyone else had customers being charged customs administration fees by Correos? We’ve had a handful now where the customer is not being charged any import VAT (correct as these are IOSS orders) however Correos are charging a 30 Euro admin fee!
What appears to occur is the customer is sent a form by Correos asking for particulars of the import. Following this Correos issue a notice confirming there are no taxes but just showing an admin fee. We have no idea why this is happening on just a handful of orders - all information transmitted via Royal Mail is correct. We’ve had 3 in the last few days.
We appreciate this is probably down to Correos not applying the rules correctly but wondered if anyone can shed any more light on this?
Thanks

Yes we have. Getting notified of more each day. It seems all our shipments to Spain are stuck in Correos customs. One customer has received a bill €30+ for a €20 item which was our first wake up call. Since then lots of “Where’s my order” msgs. Checking the customs UH…GB numbers on DG4/DE4 shipments they all track on Correos’s website & show as being in customs for ages.
Everything our end was perfect on C&D with full customs info & IOSS symbol.
Contacted RM International Services via webform about 2 weeks ago as they weren’t taking phone calls. Finally had a reply that they didn’t know why & had passed query to RM’s Spanish Regional Director.
Very brief reply today saying it’s because the products are textiles which can’t be processed via IOSS in Spain & are subject to SAD ordinary customs checks & loads of charges! See screenshot of reply.
I am totalled baffled by this as we’ve not had any issues in any other EU country so far, touch wood, except loads of parcels stuck in Italian customs due to Poste Italiane’s IT issues.
Selling isn’t so fun as it used to be!

Did you see Spain also expects everything to have a 3 year warranty!
