Hi all.
I have just started selling on Amazon and i bought UPC codes from ebay in order to sell my stock on amazon.
I have been listing for a few months now and jsut recently i have tried to list some items and an error messagem keeps appearing saying that there is a problem with the UPC codes.
I have contacted Amazon and apparently in order to sell on amazon you have to register with GS1 in order to get reliable codes.
I am selling ex highstreet stock where the labels have been removed to prevent shop returns. So i am unable to obtain the EAN number for each item.
Could someone help please.
Than you
Happening with us too. Contacted amazon and they gave us the same reply as you got. Don’t know what’s happening
You will have to either figure out the original barcodes for the items you are going to sell, or buy official barcodes. Buying them from the USA for us at least is more cost effective than UK barcode suppliers.
hello should you buy from gs1 you actually rent them on a per 1000 per year and its difficult to discontinue or change use from one item to another , I still have not been able to yet , and this is my second year with gs1 and now have 2000 which I dont really need that many .
hope this helps .
Had the same problem, every existing EAN 13 digit code was deemed invalid by amazon found a seller on ebay that sells codes that are registered with GS1 he sent me ean and upc 12 digit the upc worked fine the ean did not, i could finally edit my listing, amazon tried to tell me that i had to make new listings for everything and that i would lose my ranking…thanks but no thanks.
search ebay for the few sellers who are registered with GS1 and just hope they keep paying their fees in the future.
honestly this is a total sham. GS! charge ridiculous prices. we cannot reuse them as before we could change things on amazon but not anymore as the info is linked to the barcode
GS1 are really taking this market over as no competition. We should be able to keep them once paid for no you pay for them every year and even the ones used.
we gave some 1000 used ones be did not need back few years ago and the items are still on ok
Hi
I am about to close my Amazon shop within the next two or three weeks, I wish you well as you’ve just entered a world whereby Amazon don’t give a rats tail about sellers or buyers, so be ready to be scammed by buyers who will claim their items haven’t arrived, even though they are tracked or shipped by recorded delivery, be aware of A-Z claims whereby Amazon will automatically find in favour of the person who has submitted the A-Z, leaving you out of pocket, I wouldn’t suggest that you use FBA or you will soon discover that FBA stands for something else, rather than Fulfilled By Amazon you will be F …d By Amazon every step of the way, Buy Box is another joke as is Prime, you won’t be working for yourself you will be working for Amazon and Amazon alone, and if you have a valuable product don’t be surprised if you get blocked from selling it and a couple of weeks later someone else is selling it, it is called corruption in my world, but then what do I know.
I could continue with my views on Amazon as the list goes on and on, if you can sell else where I would, I know of people who have lost full pallets, been ripped off and scammed by buyers for thousands of pounds and that is only in the last few months, what do Amazon do, I’ll tell you absolutely nothing, seller support is a complete joke, and the worse thing is Amazon penalise you for the slightest error even when it is there fault, now ask yourself the question do you really want to sell on Amazon, if you think that I am having you on search through the forums or ask others and you will soon see how bloody awful it is on Amazon, and why so many sellers are leaving and abandoning this sinking ship.
Search out why are so many people leaving Amazon on the forums and you will see page after page of disgruntled sellers who are calling it a day, some of them are big sellers as well and not just little part time sellers.
We have 100 thousand books on Amazon so for us to close down after 10 years of grief and aggrovation from Amazon we see it as time to quit and retire from this rat ole called Amazon.
Now are you sure that you want to work on Amazon? I wouldn’t recommend that you do, you will be throwing good money away make no mistakes about that, what ever you do good luck.
