Remove brand name from title
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently had my items reclassified after being moved from Handmade, and I’ve noticed that the product title format has changed for updates and new items. It now forces the brand name to appear first, even when that makes the title less clear or less customer‑friendly.
Before the reclassification, titles could start with the actual product title, which made far more sense for customers browsing search results. Now it seems locked so the brand must appear first, even when the brand isn’t something customers search for.
Is this correct behaviour after the Handmade → non‑Handmade transition? I have asked support and after conflicting answers it seems this is how it's now done.
At the moment it feels like the new titles are longer, less readable, and less useful for customers — especially for small brands where the product name matters far more than the brand name.
If anyone else has gone through this I’d really appreciate knowing whether this is expected or if something has gone wrong with my listings.
Thanks.

I was moved from Handmade and I've been refreshing all my listings since but not come across this issue. I don't have my brand name in my titles at all now, by choice. Sounds like SS are BS'ing you.

Hi @Seller_YKDAM9Dptgpwo,
Thank you for reaching out to Amazon Forums team. The reclassification of Handmade listings to standard Amazon listings does bring them under Amazon's general title guidelines, this is expected behaviour after your Handmade → non-Handmade transition.
When your listings were reclassified to standard Amazon categories, they became subject to Amazon's standard title formatting requirements, which recommend starting titles with the brand name (if applicable) followed by the product type. Handmade previously allowed more flexible, descriptive title formatting, but this is a platform-level formatting standard rather than something specific to your account.
As @Seller_ZjZ4slOF0jHpk mentioned, they went through the same transition and chose not to include a brand name at all, so it's worth testing a manual title edit to see what your category enforces. In the meantime, you can optimise within the format by keeping your brand name concise and using the remaining character space for descriptive keywords and key product features that customers search for.
Thank you for your understanding.

I am handmade ( or should I say, was handmade). I also have a trademark for my Brand, but I often put my Brand name at the end of my listing - same reason as you have stated - the product is far more well known that a small handmade business Brand.
I've tried to amend one of my products which didn't have my brand name in it.
It completely removed the Brand from the title. When I look at the title of the product in my inventory, it shows my Brand in first place in the title, but when I open the page, it doesn't show - EXCEPT when I look in my top bar on my computer (ie the bit you would normally see the name of the site you are visiting - and then the Brand is showing as if it's there first before the product.
So, here's an idea of what is showing for one of my products:
In my Inventory: "Lesley H Phillips Handmade Recycled Sterling Silver Square Necklace – Textured & Gift Boxed - Made in Dorset Jewellery"
What shows on the product page : "Handmade Recycled Sterling Silver Square Necklace – Textured & Gift Boxed - Made in Dorset Jewellery"
Top Bar on my computer is the same as what's showing in my inventory.
What I have in my title when I am in edit mode: "Handmade Recycled Sterling Silver Square Necklace – Textured & Gift Boxed - Made in Dorset by Lesley H Phillips Jewellery"
So, as you can see it has completely removed my Brand from the end and taken out the "by Lesley H Phillips" - leaving the Made in Dorset Jewellery.
This looks to me as if it's forcing us to have our Brand name at the front, but I can amend other bits of the title.
I do have other listings which don't change at all when I try to edit them, so I leave them alone as I can't face the merry go round of SS.
At one point straight after the transition, if I went into a listing to do anything - the very next day they kept saying the first image on the product wasn't white background images - they were....but not one of the pictures were showing. In my inventory the products were showing as search supressed. I then had to upload every single picture on the product again as if I only did the first one, the others just didn't show, even though they were showing when I went into 'manage images' .
After this happened about a dozen times, I gave up amending anything. Thankfully, this seems to have been sorted by Amazon now as it was getting beyond a joke.
